Funny, I don't remember loosing that many flys last Spring, I think somebody has pilfered my goodies. I tie for the Mrs. also but I am the demise of many, many more than she will ever loose. Rocks under water and wood under and over the water eat them quick. Probably an over zealous strip set too . ness Posted April 8, 2018 Author Posted April 8, 2018 Ok, while we wait a couple things... I needed a few supplies for the poppers, and I’ve been hunting online for stuff for the last couple days. Just couldn’t get everything in one order in a timely manner, so I headed up to Cabela’s this morning. They didn’t have Whiting Bugger Packs, the main thing I needed, and I just passed on the rest. I toyed with driving all the way to Bass Pro, but figured I’d be disappointed there too, and pissed after the drive. So, I headed to K&K Flyfishers shop in Lenexa. I haven’t been there in years, partly because the guys there were always kinda snobby, and partly because I generally got what I needed elsewhere. So, I walked in and was met with this wall of fly tying materials: My boys tingled 😄 I couldn’t even fit the whole selection in the frame. It wrapped around to the right and there were several shelves of stuff like the one in the picture. I had everything I needed in about 5 minutes. And...the guys were almost falling over themselves to help me. So, I’m sold. No more wasted trips to Cabela’s. Support your local fly shop. For you penny-pinchers, yeah, I paid a little more than what I saw online. But, I don’t tolerate backordered or multiple orders as well as I used to. Time is running out, so an extra four bucks to have it in hand is better than something in the bush. K&K for all your fly tying and fishing needs. fishinwrench, BilletHead and Lancer09 3 John
ness Posted April 8, 2018 Author Posted April 8, 2018 The other thing... This ness’ lady chick is a trooper. We spent our Saturday night down in the cave learning to tie Wooly Buggers. Talk about stick-to-it-tiveness! This girl’s got it. Now, she did request I keep her flies for myself and tie some for you all, and I will probably honor that request. But, that said, it was fun to teach and it was fun to have a willing student. Like I said, this girl’s a trooper! Deadstream and BilletHead 2 John
Deadstream Posted April 8, 2018 Posted April 8, 2018 K&K can still be snobby, It has what most people need but most times the customers drive me nuts! Orvis wanna be guides that couldn't catch a bluegill in Shawnee Mission Lake. Grrrr, Gets my hackle up. It was an old 7-11 30 years ago.
