176champion Posted April 17, 2018 Posted April 17, 2018 Did not get there till 1 pm and off the water by 4 pm. I went towards shell knob and there was 3 boats in most of the coves, found one cove nobody was in but that did not last long as 2 more boats pulled up. Messed around there for a little bit and stopped at a couple other places then turn around and headed towards eagle rock and did manage to find 2 strays one was off of a wind blown point with chunk rock and the other was and the other was off a chunk rock bank in about 25 foot of water. Caught the first one on a wiggle wart and the other one on a sexy mouse spinner bait. Lots of boats out today and several tournament guys out racing around. Wind was pretty strong wish i would of had a spot lock trolling motor, water temperature was 54 to 57 degrees and about 2 foot visibility in some spots.Missed a nice guess i set the hook to early and he got off and i love my spiral wrap crankbait rod. Bill Babler Posted April 18, 2018 Posted April 18, 2018 Most of those guys are going to have to have the bottom of their boats reglassed as the are fishing unbelievable shallow. Their in the backs of the pockets and behind the docks looking for bedding fish and close up bush and bank runner fish It will be interesting. I don’t think you will see our local pros fishing like that. Lots of staging fish in the pole timber and deep cedars. Just right for a Stickbait, underspin and of course this is an A-Rig derby The fish are really biting. Some of the guys throwing the Rig are catching 20 to 30 keepers a day dan hufferd, merc1997 Bo, arsenal1477 and 3 others 5 1 http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Champ188 Posted April 18, 2018 Posted April 18, 2018 I think goal 1 should be to get thru the derby without anyone running over another boat or otherwise mishandling their rig. FLW and particularly the Costa Series has a terrible track record of late. Bassmod, mixermarkb, vernon and 1 other 4

If you ask me (and I realize nobody did) a guy better keep his head on a swivel while operating in the main channel when they're in town. Like a bunch of test pilots all trying to win Top Gun. And heaven forbid if there's early morning fog cause that just bumps the fun meter up a couple notches. Instrument Flight Rules on water is about as "thrilling" as it gets. 176champion Posted April 19, 2018 Author Posted April 19, 2018 I did not see any of them fishing, just racing around, they would go by and about 20 minutes later they would go by going the other way, guess they where scanning the water at 50 - 60 mph..
