So, as the title states,  I have camped out with Boy scouts for the last 3 weekends.

We did get to fish last weekend in a private stocked pond.  Snag city.  Many of the boys never casted a pole before.  I had many rods/reels donated a few years back from a customer of mine.   I have slowly reworked each one and salvaged what I could.

3 fish were caught, 1 crappie and 2 catfish.   Nothing huge for any of them, but ok size for the boys.  This weekend we cleaned and filleted them.  The boys got their hands dirty, and learned some fish anatomy.  They also learned how the meat they buy is processed.   I will fry them up tomorrow for our meeting.  20180421_191731.jpg

Very nice Dark, i was a Scout master for 2 years and assistant Scout master for 6 years. Use to do 2 summer camps, one out of state and one in state which consumed about 3 weeks a year total. Also use to staff adult training courses as well as scouts courses probably a total of 6 weeks a year total. It was very satisfying to see a child smiling and learning and having a great time, i meet some great people as well.

What all camps did you go to? I helped pay for college working at a big Boy Scout Camp in Oklahoma (Hale Scout Reservation). Both of my brothers spent some time working there too. Some of the best summers in my life. They were long and hard, but I loved them.

I also really enjoyed Camp Mack Morris in the West Tennessee Area Council.

Thanks for helping some youngsters learn new skills. Not involved with BSA, but if you know A. Bishop in Jeffco, he is a friend of mine.

Yes, we met on two weekends ago.  It was raining and he ducked under our fly for cover.   While bs-ing into the evening, we found out we attended the same high school.  He is one year ahead of me.   We talked again this weekend.  He is a genuinely good guy.  Most people in scouting organizations, are great people.  I have been around it most of my life.    This is the first in a long time of triple weekend campouts.  Very long time.  I'm wore out.

I think just about every camp has one of those hills (cardiac hill, heart attack hill, suicide hill, etc. lol).
