I ment no disrespect to anyone starting this post. Catch and release or catch and eat. Walcrabass you make the point about tournament fisherman in the past tense of 30-40 years ago. Let’s take a look at then and now. Back then every bass was put on a stringer butchered and ate. Limits were 10-12 fish per boat and fishing was great! Lots and lots of bass died to tournaments and most likely to every fisherman that was on the lake fishing for them. Lots of big fish went in the grease back then. I fish with a 77 year old gentleman who has a shoe box full of pictures of big fish that were caught and ate from back then. He tells me stories all the time about how good it was and nobody ever thought about turning them back to fight again. If you say 40% die after being released then that means 60% live. If you want to look at it by means of years of time 60% is way better than 100% back then.Believe me I’m not saying your wrong about tournaments. If they changed the way we had weigh ins, it would not get my pants bunched up. But until they do we’ll just have to live with it. Like I said, I fish tournaments. Not as many as I used to. I respect every fisherman out there on the lake. I was raised that way. I’m sure if I didn’t respect others the way some do not. My dad would come down from Heaven and knock the holy crap out of me!!!

IMO they either need to change their scoring format, or allow way fewer tournaments.   I don't believe that 40% are being killed but I do think it is relocating too much, and causing bass to change their habits.   In a lake with plentiful shoreline cover there shouldn't be so many lost bass out roaming the open water with the whites and stripers.  Constant relocation is what is causing that I think.

   Yes I know that 40 years ago lots of the fish were put on stringers. 100% kill rate no doubt. The 40% is something I have read but don't know where to find the article.

Personally I think if we are going to continue to weigh in then go to a one fish weigh in. Why not ??  You would still have a winner and the other four fish would probably make it do to less boat travel and maybe absolutely no time in the livewell depending on when your "Big Fish" was caught.

yea the bass tourneys probably do kill a few fish. But lets not mention how many crappie are taking from the lake in a day. And some full of eggs.  We are all in the same boat. We all fish cause we like it and species should break us apart.

See, another reason those crappie fishermen need to get out of the water when us bass guys launch. Lets do disignated days/times on the water.  Bass guys get from 1/2 hour before daylight until 11am.  Then again from 3 hours before dark until 11pm.  That leaves those "other" anglers plenty of opportunity to set there, in one spot, for their alloted time.  Tho im poking fun, that thought actually has merit.  Ok off to write my proposal to the MDC, LT. Gov. Parsons, Stockton Lake Board of Realtors, C.O.E, the FAA, and anyone else that may be bored and want to read my ramblings. PM me if anyones interested in my thoughtless ramblings. But what about fellers like me who often aren't sure what the final target will be.  I certainly don't mind launching among bass guys, one thing they can generally do well is launch and be gone.  It's the kayaks, pontoons etc, and old slow guy like me by their selves that eat up time.

Always exceptions to the rules MO.  You contribute enough here you can set on any spot as long as you want, even during the bass fishing times.
