nomolites Posted June 4, 2018 Posted June 4, 2018 Hey guys, making my first trip to Stockton next week with my wife and I know nothing about the lay of the land. I can locate ramps easily enough, but can’t find any information on the availability of fish cleaning stations. Are there any available for public use? Mike
Walleyedmike Posted June 4, 2018 Posted June 4, 2018 State Park Marina also has a cleaning station. WM
DADAKOTA Posted June 4, 2018 Posted June 4, 2018 I like the one at State Park as it gives me an excuse to get a great cheeseburger at the marina Hawgeye and Walleyedmike 2
straw hat Posted June 4, 2018 Posted June 4, 2018 I had a discussion with a conservation agent several years ago about cleaning stations. I was at the CC boat ramp at the time and he was issuing a ticket to a bank fisherman for cleaning fish at the lake. I already new about the rule that you can not clean fish within the immediate area of a lake or river. I asked him what about the fish cleaning stations such as the ones listed above. He said fish cleaning stations are legal but cleaning fish there are not. (Good grief) The reason is that it would be easy for a fisherman to clean an undersized fish and throw it on ice right away and the agent would not be able to tell its total length. I have certainly seen a lot of tickets issued to bank and boat fisherman over the years for cleaning fish on the lake. Just thought I would mention it.
Dutch Posted June 4, 2018 Posted June 4, 2018 Straw hat that is interesting. I have cleaned fish adjacent to the ramp many times. Once I had a conservation agent drive up while I was cleaning some crappie. He took a look in the bucket at my uncleaned fish. I asked him if he wanted to measure them. He said, "Nope they all look long enough to me." Then he got back in his truck and left.
tjm Posted June 4, 2018 Posted June 4, 2018 Chapter 6—Wildlife Code: Sport Fishing: Seasons, Methods, Limits 3 CSR 10-6.405 General Provisions (3)(C) Regardless of where taken, no fish less than the specified minimum length limit shall be possessed on the waters or banks thereof to which length limits apply. The head, tail and skin must remain attached to all fish for which length limits are established while those fish are on the waters to which length limits apply or until the fish have been checked by an agent of the department. This tells me I can clean the fish as long as the head, tail and skin are left on?
bologna Posted June 4, 2018 Posted June 4, 2018 So you can clean catfish and white bass, but not walleye, crappie, etc..... interesting
tjm Posted June 4, 2018 Posted June 4, 2018 Show em to the agent first or leave the heads on em you should be legal?

If you're filleting them the way most people do, the overall length would still be easy to measure, as long as you don't chop the heads or tails off. I know lots of people do it, since there is usually always fish scraps tossed in the water near the ramp when I put in. -Austin
