So am I correct here?  Someone we know and fully believe to be a good fisherman who takes very good care of fish he legally catches and simply happens to transport to another part of the lake before releasing, and somehow some are upset?  I guess I don't get it?  Never met merc1997 before and am unlikely to, but he does provide some good info for folks who fish TR.  If here were filleting the smallies I would say it's his right to even if I don't like it.  But literally the only thing happening here is relocating some fish to another part of the same lake, goodness his happens every day as folks catch a few and haul them around before showing wife/girlfriend/kids and then releasing them.

How about bagged ice in the wells at takeoff?

A quick livewell pump check wouldn't take any time at all on a club or jackpot takeoff, and I've never seen it happen one time, nor have I ever seen any have an experienced angler in charge of fish care show folks how to fizz their deep caught bass at a summer weigh in, or even have a pre-tournament discussion about fish care on any level. 

Folks, I enjoy a derby every now and then, but all in the world Champ, Wrench and some of the others perceived as anti derby are saying is police yourselves before someone else does, because self policing will be much less painful than whatever law(s) this batch of bought and paid for idiots we have as lawmakers (on both sides of the aisle) would come up with. The crossfire and spillover from any derby legislation is liable to effect all of sport fishing on all levels!

You missed the point MO.  My point was thats what EVERY tournament angler does during every tournament, but those of us that fish them, and take great care of the fish "BTW my fish are all released alive and well after a tourney" are doing some dirty deed to the fishery. Come on, what Bo, or anyone else doing what he is, is zero difference than what myself, orevery other angler does. NOTHING. 

And what aarchdale is saying is, lets see those same Champ types jump his case like he has every other tourney guy on this site.  Funny how when those that "used" to fish tourneys but quit when they started feeling sorry for the fish, and now the same spewing their snot here about something they used to do.  Umm, thinking there is another reason they USED to fish tourneys, but quit.

Bo,  my comments on your thread are not made in haste. I was just commenting that you relocating those fish is what tournament anglers do. Nothing different, except a select few here speak of their loyalty against it, but yet those same select few say nothing about you doing the same. Pretty funny if you ask me. 

Im all for what your doing. I have done it outside of tourneys, and will continue. 

P.S.  Theres always a chance of a fish being injured and dying during catch/transport/release.  Its part of the game, even for those of us that take precautions.

Great comment, but the guys i fish with/against take great care of their equipment and fish care. I understand thats not the case with 100% of derby anglers, but neither is it with any other hobby.  Fish will die. Natural or not, they will die.  Relocating fish for fun has the exact same effect on the fish as being in a tournament. Again im all for Bo doing it, but dont female doggy about one group doing it, without saying the same about the other. But we get it, hard to saysomething you disagree with if you like the guy.

Nope, that WAS the point.  I don't give a rats behind about tournaments personally but those who act like tournaments are OK, but what merc1997 does is bad, well that is silly.  Zero difference.  While I can see that relocating thousands of fish a month can have a short term effect, the reality is that if it were that big a deal then all tournaments would be won within sight of a launch ramp.  So while merc1997s efforts show that relocated fish will take up residence at a new location to term it as illegal or wrong is silly.  As for dead fish at a weigh in site, that is bad regardless of who puts it on or what sponsors are supporting it.  Don't mind fish being eaten but hate to see them wasted.

we agree.  Sweet.  If i liked the taste of fish, i would take those fish home that i have seen floating after a tourney.  I hear they make good fertilizer for a garden, so maybe i can  capitalize in another way.
