If I could afford it I'd rather own a couple of restored late 90's trucks than ONE new one.  Trucks today have a look and feel that makes me think they are made for women.  If I could get by without a truck for a month or so I would just have my Fishwagon completely restored.  I might buy a beater to get by and do just that.

I forgot about that cash for clunkers crap.  Ronnie is right, that took alot of perfectly restorable vehicles away.

It took me forever to get a decent little sedan for my daughter to drive to college.  Stupid things would sell while I was driving to look at them or they had so many miles on them I wouldn't touch them.

Yep. Already been there. Last one I bought over the phone. But it was 13K. Turned out to be a really good ride for her. Got one more to buy for in a year or two. Hopefully it gets better before then.

I’ve looked at a few trucks to restore in the past but there just aren’t that many around.

I found several worthy of it, but they still want 6-9 grand for them.  9-10k is pretty much the limit of what I'm willing to invest in any pickup truck.  Even if I could afford a 20k+ truck I wouldn't do it.

I always want to get a used vehicle to save some money, but almost everything I’ve had has been a new car that I drive until the wheels fall off. It also gives me peace of mind that it has been taken care of properly. It is expensive to buy new, but I try to get every bit of value out of a car.

Don't forget that you will get about a third of the cost back in the form of a tax deduction.

Well I just bought a '04 Tahoe.  167kmiles for 4500.00 (clean as a whistle, couldn't pass it up).  Anything I should know about that year class?

Guess I'll sell the Suburban, and I'm still shopping for another pickup truck.
