fishinwrench Posted June 21, 2018 Author Posted June 21, 2018 If I could afford it I'd rather own a couple of restored late 90's trucks than ONE new one. Trucks today have a look and feel that makes me think they are made for women. If I could get by without a truck for a month or so I would just have my Fishwagon completely restored. I might buy a beater to get by and do just that. I forgot about that cash for clunkers crap. Ronnie is right, that took alot of perfectly restorable vehicles away. Daryk Campbell Sr 1

Stupid things would sell while I was driving to look at them or they had so many miles on them I wouldn't touch them. Yep. Already been there. Last one I bought over the phone. But it was 13K. Turned out to be a really good ride for her. Got one more to buy for in a year or two. Hopefully it gets better before then.
snagged in outlet 3 Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 I’ve looked at a few trucks to restore in the past but there just aren’t that many around.

I found several worthy of it, but they still want 6-9 grand for them. 9-10k is pretty much the limit of what I'm willing to invest in any pickup truck. Even if I could afford a 20k+ truck I wouldn't do it.
snagged in outlet 3 Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 I got fed up with truck prices back in the 90’s. Now I just buy new or demo and drive em into the ground. My boss has a sequoia with 390k miles on it.
slothman Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 I always want to get a used vehicle to save some money, but almost everything I’ve had has been a new car that I drive until the wheels fall off. It also gives me peace of mind that it has been taken care of properly. It is expensive to buy new, but I try to get every bit of value out of a car.
Gavin Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 Don't forget that you will get about a third of the cost back in the form of a tax deduction.
fishinwrench Posted June 24, 2018 Author Posted June 24, 2018 Well I just bought a '04 Tahoe. 167kmiles for 4500.00 (clean as a whistle, couldn't pass it up). Anything I should know about that year class? Guess I'll sell the Suburban, and I'm still shopping for another pickup truck.
drew03cmc Posted June 24, 2018 Posted June 24, 2018 LS engine...solid as a rock. Buddy has a 5.3 with almost 300k on it. fishinwrench 1 Andy
