wow, I knew that was possible and I've seen a good many sink holes, but that is first I've seen a picture of in a river. Talk about a loosing stream. They said engineers coming, guess they'll try to plug the hole?

Didn't mention how the fatal accident happened  nor how many fatalities.

Curious as to how exactly it caused an accident.  Just professional curiosity I guess.  Don't know that there is much if anything that can be done to plug it.  Hope to see more information on what they do.

Around noon on Sat.  The stripper pole was probably in full swing at Dead Man's Curve by that time.  That part of the river can be a circus on the weekend.

There is a big shelf there that created a falls many years ago.  Then they blasted out one side and created Dead Man's curve, big boulder in river that can and will wipe you out.  Nature probably made a hole thru the shelf and made the whirlpool.  Might have to go and take a look at that next weekend.

Good video, I was picturing it disappearing into an underground cavern, but looks like it is simply shooting out below after wearing though a thin rock layer.  I can see where that would be bad for a swimmer.

Yeah, I was also thinking of a cavern, that's more of a worm hole  than a sinkhole. The engineers will probably recommend blasting to lessen the hazard to the public.

So is there a riffle close by down stream? I watched the other video "Deadmans curve/Howards party "  right after that and it looks like 90% don't make it and the swimmers don't appear to be trying to get out.

It's a narrow swift spot with a boulder.  I have run it in a kayak and made it, but many fail.  Good place to sit and watch failures. It draws a crowd.

It's been a few years since I have been down that far. It makes for a long day.  Lots of long slow holes after Riverside.

Good lord, Why do they think a river needs to be fixed? Oh I guess it’s not a river at all but an amusement park.
