Basfis Posted August 8, 2018 Posted August 8, 2018 Good glass makes a difference over time. Binoculars, scopes, windshields or sunglasses. Im not getting any younger and I’m sure my eyes aren’t better and I’ll never have more eyes. I finally pulled the trigger on costas 3 years ago. Now wife has some and I have a second pair. Where they really shine is scratch resistance and eye strain. I can wear the bronze from before sunrise until after sunset and eyeballs feel fine. Not cheap and absolutely money well spent. Both pairs I have are Fisch 580g. Silver mirror and a blue mirror pair. If only one, the silver over bronze wins every time
fishinwrench Posted August 8, 2018 Posted August 8, 2018 When a fish blows water in your face do you swipe them off on your shirt, or do you take 10 minutes to find your little bottle of cleaner and special sliver of cheesecloth? tjm 1

Blot them dry with any cloth or paper towel and you won’t scratch them. Rubbing scratches. I’m a Smith/Action Optics fan. First pair lasted at least 12 years. I’ve got pictures going back to 2004 with them on. Buy quality. Take care of it. And, when you ride the Mamba at Worlds of Fun, take their advice and secure your belongings because the punk posterior staff won’t go looking for them. John
tjm Posted August 8, 2018 Posted August 8, 2018 I've got confused, which of these makes progressive (or bifocal) scripts in amber polarized?

Rubbing scratches. Blotting just creates a giant smear. If I gotta look through a dried up slimey smear then the quality of the lenses is kinda redundant. Your fish must behave much cleaner and neater than mine do. The ones I catch are always messy pigs that like to sling crap everywhere.

As Ness says blot first which will work with water but once I get skin oil or other crap on there I use the wipes. No scratches and keep them cased when not in use. And Ness, I lost a pair of Costas on a coaster in FL...they were in the case and flew out of my shirt pocket. I was getting the same line of smack you mention from one of the kids working it when another passenger walked up and handed me my glasses....they had flown back 6 cars and landed in his lap....I would rather be lucky than good any day! Geez, you are like my kids. "Hey girls don't wear you glasses into the ocean." "Oh Dad you are so stupid, we won't lose them." 10 minutes later. " Dad can you take us to the store to get new glasses!!!" PS: In most places the staff isn't allowed to go retrieve the belongings that you didn't secure. That's why they ask you to secure them.

Since i carry a lot of expensive camera gear I usually have a couple of those little special cloths in my pocket. And 99.99999999% of the time I end up using my shirt.

Had the frames replaced once because my dog got them and chewed them up a bit. They were on a strap and tucked into my shirt on the coaster, but I learned the hard way that wasn't enough. The prescription was about 2-3 behind, so I wasn't too torn up. Got a pair of Ray Bans as a gift to replace them, so that's what I'm wearing now. Updated script plus bifocal is really nice. But they won't last 12 years. 4 hours ago, nomolites said: I carry ZEISS lenses cleaning wipes in the little packets; have them in the boat, truck, pack, everywhere.
