oneshot Posted September 1, 2018 Posted September 1, 2018 Got a Spinning Reel that quit Locking. I figure it should be simple. Any ideas before I tear in to it? oneshot
jdmidwest Posted September 1, 2018 Posted September 1, 2018 Its Broke? Did you flip the switch? Things do wear out. Deadstream 1 "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
tjm Posted September 2, 2018 Posted September 2, 2018 I always take things apart inside a clear plastic bag, just in case there is tiny but powerful spring that wants to be free, it's easier than spending hours combing through the floor and furniture.
Bushbeater Posted September 2, 2018 Posted September 2, 2018 Usually a gentle cleaning and lube will fix em up. It's probably the IAR Bearing in the top front of the reel. Maybe just needs a drop of oil.
fishinwrench Posted September 2, 2018 Posted September 2, 2018 Well what is it? (Make/model) We have the internet at our fingertips here, we can probably look up a schematic and tell you with 80% certainty why the anti-reverse has failed. Likely a broken spring. If it's a 20.00 reel then scrap it. If it's a 80-120.00+ reel then let's get busy. 😊 Deadstream 1
