I have poked around but not smart enough to find it on my own. ty I wanted to copy and paste my info but it won't let me. Here is the full document laying the whole program for trout statewide dated 2003. There is some really good reading in there about how trout fishing is supposed to be managed state wide. The tag info is on page 2 https://huntfish.mdc.mo.gov/sites/default/files/downloads/6254_4142.pdf The park concessions do get 5% of the revenue generated by license sales however. tjm Posted November 1, 2018 Posted November 1, 2018 from that^^^ trout plan ; "trout tags and trout permits are received as general Conservation Commission Fund revenues. " OK but that does not tell me anything really. Money goes into and out of that Fund- how and how much? Doesn't even provide that the trout tag money goes to the trout program, it just says that they try to set the price at that point. The budgets for these agencies must be out there some place but my google didn't work. This plan is just a goal setting PR program, I've actually read it a couple times before with out learning anything except "Missouri anglers have become accustomed to a large average size of trout stocked in put-and-take fisheries. Rainbow trout are often stocked at an average size of nearly 12 inches (with a range of 10 to 14 inches), making them some of the largest trout stocked by a state agency in the United States (Epifanio 2000). " The MDC does not own any of the trout parks and some one pays for the DNR to maintain, police and operate the three state parks, in the case of store, campers and lodgers the vendors pay; is not the MDC a vendor? Would not the DNR ask for cost sharing or compensation? If MDC does share the Park costs, is that money counted in the cost of the trout program? wrench, my estimate for BSSP would put that closer to $30K based on those older numbers, but the greater benefit to the vendor is the $20-100 spent there just because we have to go in there to get a tag and all those goodies are between the tag counter and the door. They would profit from tag sales if they had to pay for the privilege of selling them.
Gavin Posted November 1, 2018 Posted November 1, 2018 Thinking all of the trout tag sale to MDC. 95% of license fees to MDC, 5% to the vendor. It’s not allot to most vendors. $50k in licence sales gets you $2,500. More of a convienience than a money maker. They will buy something else when they stop by for a license.
fishinwrench Posted November 1, 2018 Author Posted November 1, 2018 According to Weaver's the tags sales for adults alone was up to 357,000 this year. x 3.00 is a good bit over a mil. 5% of that is 50k
Gavin Posted November 1, 2018 Posted November 1, 2018 Weaver’s can’t sell you a day tag as far as I know. 50k topline is not much. Gotta make payroll to sell them, and not sure if Roger’s gets a cut or not off day tag sales. It is not the bulk of his business. Licenses are a 5% cut, and they take their 95% out within days. Basically makes up for the Credit Card Fee (3% ish +\-) then a small profit.

Either way the park store gets a way fairer share of permit sales than does all the other retailers that sell hunting/fishing permits/and tags.
