176champion Posted November 14, 2018 Posted November 14, 2018 I would rather work on trailer lights than a farmers truck that has been out in the field and ripped all the tail light wires out, trailer lights is child's play....lol I know everything about nothing and know nothing about everything! Gavin Posted November 14, 2018 Posted November 14, 2018 Used to repair & replace aircraft wire bundles & cannon plugs. We trained for it, and had the publications to do so. We were professionals. Trailer wiring is simple. Auto wiring used to be simple, but not anymore. Take it to a pro if a late model with electrical problems. Burned out a taillight on truck today. Surprised that is still a bulb light on a 2015 model. It should be LED. My real estate developer customers have been all LED for at least 10 years.

The Tahoe I recently bought has an issue with the dash lights and dome over-ride. It can't be as simple as power/ground/switch/bulb.....Oh NO, because there's a "chassis control module" in the mix. Thanks GM for assuming that I'm too stupid to know when to turn the lights on and off, and when to lock the doors. Really appreciate that. 😡 A customer in a fairly new Ford didn't secure his hitch lock on his trailer when he left my shop with his boat. The trailer jumped off the hitch and when the safety chains DID THEIR JOB guess what happened? The jolt set off the stupid AIRBAGS ! Yeah....so be ready for that surprise when driving down the highway pulling a trailer. Just brilliant.
snagged in outlet 3 Posted November 14, 2018 Posted November 14, 2018 You’d be surprised how new a vehicle can be when the airbags went off and the vehicle is totaled. Daryk Campbell Sr 1
176champion Posted November 14, 2018 Posted November 14, 2018 These new vehicles are amazing with all the crap they have on them. Buddy of mine was backing out a new Dodge pickup and he opened the door to look and see if he was gona miss something and the truck automatically slammed into park and beat his head on the door post. Those modules for controlling everything arn't cheap and cause a bunch of problems when they go bad. Ain't nobody got time for that BS. It was only four blown fuses on the truck, a bad LED light, one failed connection and a bad ground on the other light. Child's play. snagged in outlet 3 1

My insurance guy said rates are steadily climbing due to things like backup cameras, backup monitors and forward facing monitors that are all in the bumpers. A fender bender turns into a total loss. Since a new truck cost 50,000-60,000 bucks today versus 20,000 bucks 15 years ago insurance is bound to go up. This is why my newest truck is a 2002 Ford Ranger with 272,000 miles on it and my tow vehicle is a 1997 F150 with 210,000 miles on it....Full coverage on both vehicles and 2 boats on my insurance i pay 135 a month..100 dollar deductible on my vehicles and 250 deductible on my boats and full coverage on both boats. snagged in outlet 3 Posted November 14, 2018 Posted November 14, 2018 My guy said the industry is just now getting up to speed with the increases due to the new gizmos. It's like he told me when my daughter started driving and I said she isn't driving my wife's BMW. He said: No, but she could hit your neighbors Mercedes and cost a bundle. So insurance on older vehicles will be going up too.
176champion Posted November 14, 2018 Posted November 14, 2018 Look at the cost of new boats..50,000 to 100,000 bucks, boat insurance will be on the rise also. I know everything about nothing and know nothing about everything! Bruce Philips
