Only one time did I get paddled in school - I think it was 5th grade, which would be about 1967. Bunch of us boys had a rock fight one day at recess, one of the kids got hit in the head, got a cut on his forehead, pretty bloody. About 20 of us had to report to the principals office to receive our well deserved punishment. Had to bend over and receive one light tap with a wooden paddle (we didn't have to pull our pants down). Public school.
Macsimus Posted January 7, 2019 Posted January 7, 2019 I always laugh whenever I remember Johnny Carson talking about going to Our Lady of Perpetual Guilt. I was raised strict baptist, so I get it. 😄 Champ188, shark bait and Daryk Campbell Sr 3 "There was a time that I didn't fish, but I cannot remember it."

Even though we were Protestant my parents sent me to a Catholic boys school run by the Augustinians from 7th to 12th grade. The belts the priests wear with their habits really sting. snagged in outlet 3 and shark bait 2
dan hufferd Posted January 8, 2019 Posted January 8, 2019 We all turned out OK. I think I would have benefited, from some more intense teaching. I don't regret any of it. Catholic school, or public, both were very different than what we have now.
shark bait Posted January 8, 2019 Posted January 8, 2019 I had no love Sunday either. I put in at HI around 11:30, fished till 4 and never had a bite. I marked fish but they were not interested in my offerings. Fished down to Roaring River. snagged in outlet 3 1 Becky B

Catholic school, or public, both were very different than what we have now. I was raised Lutheran so no nuns but those German psychopaths at St. Paul's drove me from the church and I'm not exaggerating. Open and backhanded slaps to the head and face were a daily occurrence and, yes, pants were pulled down for paddling on a regular basis and in front of the girls in order to achieve maximum humiliation. I never have and never will forgive those Nazi's and that's exactly what they were to me. And to be taught that my friends of every other religion were going to hell was a bit disconcerting as well. So, yeah, we turned out OK I guess but I'll always believe that it was in spite of not because of the tactics employed by these guys. Two of the terror merchants in particular - Mr.'s Kalthofff and Hafemeister - should have been put behind bars. In fact, rumor had it that a few years later when Kalthoff "went away" it was because he had been convicted of pedophilia in the Kansas City area. Of course, stuff like that was kept on the down low back then. Couldn't be embarrassing a "good Christian" adult after all. snagged in outlet 3 and Daryk Campbell Sr 2 "Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups." Sore Thumbs Posted January 8, 2019 Posted January 8, 2019 I thought I did terrible. Guess I should be happy with what I caught. It was tough on everyone.
LD Fisher Posted January 8, 2019 Posted January 8, 2019 I went to a Catholic school till the 8th grade. I have one memory of an event.....can't remember what I did, but Sister Mary Andrews caught me and was slapping me with both hands on each side of my face for whatever I did........would've made Mohammad Ali proud!! vernon, Sore Thumbs and snagged in outlet 3 3

Yeah, the "talent" level was really pretty amazing when you think back on it and was really widespread. Most of my neighborhood buddies went to Catholic school so we spent a lot of time comparing our "educational" experiences. Slappings and paddling were so commonplace that they didn't really get much run. As I recall, being dragged down the hallway by ones hair or earlobe was always a local favorite though as there was a certain artistic element involved when performed at the highest level. I'm also pretty sure my guys were just finishing up SS training when, sadly, WWII ended........ "Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups."
