shrapnel Posted January 18, 2019 Posted January 18, 2019 I use these with a high level of success. Best part is, Wally World sells a 5 pack under 2 bucks. Arkie Stand Up Jig Heads.
shrapnel Posted January 18, 2019 Posted January 18, 2019 I also quit using the expensive TRDs and just cut two neds from a 5" stinko, with no less success.

Arkie Stand Up Jig Heads. Count me as a +1 on this. I'm certainly not fishing tournaments or making my living fishing. If I break off or get hung up an extra 3 or 4 times then so be it(frankly I lose way more expensive lures than a jig head). Plus I can sneak them in the cart at Wally world and make my wife pay for them. I just feel like comparing ned jig heads is like comparing bottled water. We can split the difference all day long and nothing will ever be conclusive. I do agree the lighter the better and that is where I have seen the biggest advantage.

I use them in tournaments without worry, I love the light wire hooks on these... play your fish accordingly. I would not even consider throwing one on LOZ without a weed guard.

If there was a way you could make those with a wire keeper that would be great for the Ned rig. The wire keepers allows me the ability to swap out the TRD very quickly on the jig if I am needing change colors. Why not just glue up several before you get on the water and then just change out head and all when you want to change colors? vernon 1

If I did that I would have to cut and retie each of time i wanted to change the plastic baits. I guess it comes down to time and convenience. I usually have handful of different plastic baits in my pocket and I maybe changing them out frequently based upon various conditions. With the wire keeper I can change out a plastic bait in just a few seconds.
Champ188 Posted January 18, 2019 Posted January 18, 2019 Throwing them on 6-pound test like I do, it's a good practice to re-tie frequently. Only takes 15 seconds total to snip off and retie a Palomar. Just sayin. Everyone has their own methods. Royal Blue, Flysmallie, vernon and 1 other 4

But when I have wanted to use different colors quickly I just rigged up different rods with each one. I used to fish tournaments with a guy that might have 5 or 6 different rods all with the same jerkbait tied on except for color.
Bill Babler Posted January 18, 2019 Posted January 18, 2019 Chompers makes a head just about like that only flatter and both have caught about a Zillion Fish on Table Rock. Pair it with Jeff Fletchers old Arky or any of Chompers Hula grubs and you have done and gone Old School.
