Most carp bait smell nice, stinky stuff catches too many catfish! 1 hour ago, Seth said: Looks like a buffet for a big flathead. They would be pricy bait, those fish run about 40 bucks each in dollars, fish 20# and over start at 900!!!! MONKEYS? what monkeys?

I took your post as they were possibly stocking the those mirrors somewhere in Texas. If they run that much, that sure sounds like a giant waste of $$$ to me!
MoCarp Posted February 8, 2019 Author Posted February 8, 2019 Those fish are being raised in the USA already, Texas is one of nine states looking at brood stock of better strains... English waters run colder than here on average, I think some strains are being looked at from the south of France...Seems like one reason these fish get big is the mature much later than our “feral” fish, ours typically are longer and leaner than these other bloodlines, these fish run 80-90% mirror or scaless fish MONKEYS? what monkeys?
Seth Posted February 8, 2019 Posted February 8, 2019 I should have specified that it would seem like a big waste if they were stocked in areas with an abundance of large predatory fish that could eat them such as flathead or gator gar. As long as they aren't getting ate by predators as soon as they get stocked, then stock away! It would be neat to catch one.

They need to be 12-17 inches if stocked in existing waters at least that’s what I have read.... don’t think if they get stocked anywhere but a start from scratch small lake, but they have the same issues with muskies Seth 1 MONKEYS? what monkeys?
