Ketchup Posted February 16, 2019 Posted February 16, 2019 Sorry guys, little bored this evening, so my thoughts are coming out. As I pulled out of my driveway today, I watched 6 deer eating under an oak tree. My thoughts turned to: Ready for the rant part? So, when a person buys property, they pay taxes on that land, interest on the loan, money to maintain that property, insurance, and those are the basics. Add to that list any food plots, pond building, cleanup, etc. and a person will have a lot of money invested, all while paying taxes on everything purchased to maintain/grow that property. Currently the property owner has the opportunity to receive farm tags, thru the agency that controls, slaughters, maintains the deer herd in the state. In order to receive those tags, the property owner has to give a name, address, property size to receive them. So if I own the property, build/plant/grow food on my property, to attract wild animals to it, why does the MDC need my personal info? Other than to track land owners, individuals, I cannot think of a reason they need it, nor a reason a property owner needs tags. Simply set a harvest limit, and let the honest landowners abide by those, without the feeling of being “watched”. Daryk Campbell Sr and snagged in outlet 3 2 TinBoats BassClub. tjm Posted February 16, 2019 Posted February 16, 2019 Short answer, those farm tags count as permits sold when the Feds dole out the Pit-Rob money. I get the max number of tags every year and hardly ever hunt any more.
jdmidwest Posted February 16, 2019 Posted February 16, 2019 They still have to be tagged with something to keep people honest and legal. And the biologists can track the harvest too. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
fishinwrench Posted February 16, 2019 Posted February 16, 2019 I can tell ya one thing ..... There's no overpopulated deer problem out where the Amish live. So grow a beard, put on a black hat, and just TCOB. 😎 snagged in outlet 3 1
Ketchup Posted February 16, 2019 Author Posted February 16, 2019 But but.... The honest will do honest things, even without rules, regs, permits. Trust me, drive down my dirt road during rifle season, or the few days before, and the dis-honest are out. Take the money out of the equation “ie, the fed money” and there has to be a way around the farm tag issue. I can report my harvest, on my property, without the requirement of needing to involve the state, just as well as I can with the current ways. Im not anti-MDC, anti-Govment, etc. but do hate being “watched” by anyone. TinBoats BassClub. An aluminum only bass club. If interested in info send me a PM.

Ketchup Posted February 16, 2019 Author Posted February 16, 2019 I agree with needing a fishing license, drivers license, etc. because you are on “public” waterways, roads, but to be watched on my own property. Naw TinBoats BassClub. An aluminum only bass club. If interested in info send me a PM.

Naw I agree about the data mining part, and couldn't care less about deer at this point right now. But I'm not so sure I'd want free reign given to all landowners on all forms of wildlife. snagged in outlet 3 1
jdmidwest Posted February 16, 2019 Posted February 16, 2019 Do the deer come from your property and stay on your property their entire lives? Nope, they are the State's Deer just like the fish in streams are the State's Fish. And they have to keep track of them.
