Seth Posted March 4, 2019 Posted March 4, 2019 I went down Saturday with a buddy who really brags about it, but the fishing was very slow. He said that was definitely not normal. Others who fish it a lot were saying it was the worst opening weekend that they had ever seen. We left and headed to Maramec and pounded the trout pretty good on jigs, trout magnets and orange worms. Judging by the lunker board, Montauk definitely stocks bigger lunkers than Maramec. I don't think anything over 5# was caught at Maramec and there were several 6-8# and one over 10# already on the board at Montauk.

Members Dale H Posted March 7, 2019 Members Posted March 7, 2019 I went today. Great fishing, although cold. In 2 hours caught 15, mostly nice stockers. Used my normal: drifting a white trout magnet. Guy near me caught a 4.5 pounder. My thumbs and forefingers were numb, so it was back to the car. Went down to Cedar Grove to look around for potential turkey hunting spots in April. Saw an Eagle fishing. A great birthday for me. Johnsfolly, BlueSTL, liphunter and 4 others 7

Gavin Posted March 8, 2019 Posted March 8, 2019 Don’t fish the parks much anymore, but Roaring River usually had the best average size followed by Montauk. Meramec does not hatch their own so they get the scraps.
bkbying89 Posted March 9, 2019 Posted March 9, 2019 The gauge at Montauk hasn't fallen below 2.0 feet in what feels like forever. That usually means dirty water. Between the rain, snow and the cold, I haven't even tried a park since the. opening. Bill
