buddygr53 Posted April 10, 2019 Posted April 10, 2019 The big bass tournament this past weekend. There were lots of 4 lbs bass and 3 lbs. Number of 5lbs. If all these were released up long creek, how many of them stay in that area. Do the fish caught up the rivers try and make it back to the area they were caught.
Targa98 Posted April 10, 2019 Posted April 10, 2019 I can assure you they were not all released in long creek. In reality there were only a few released there
Champ188 Posted April 10, 2019 Posted April 10, 2019 There's been a fair amount of research done on that topic with no conclusive answers, to my knowledge. If I recall correctly, some fish tend to just rehome themselves in their new surroundings while others range wider in search of new digs. But I really doubt any of the fish caught in the upper reaches of the White, Kings or James rivers will ever make it back there. Thanks, Johnny. And, most importantly, the source of your information? fishinwrench 1
Targa98 Posted April 10, 2019 Posted April 10, 2019 From talking with the release boat there was close to 600 fish released anywhere from long creek all the way up past Aunts creek. As of when we talked with him there had been 0 lost at the release boat before they were turned loose. There was a couple that needed to be fizzed while in the tank but returned to normal shorly after. Alot of these fished were release there at the Marina in Long creek if they needed fizzed just to take the stress off them for another boat ride. Take it with a grain of salt because this is just what he told us and I am for sure not saying that this is 100% true data as I was not there for all of it. I know we weighed in 2 fish all weekend and both made small checks and both were very healthy and lively when we weighed in. So take it is for what it is worth.

Let's hope he was telling you the truth and not some corporate bullpoop. Aunts Creek sure is a long trip in a pontoon. Now, if Kelly Power at Ulrich Marine supplied the release boat and crew, as he does for some big derbies, you can believe what you were told. I certainly hope that's the case.
Targa98 Posted April 10, 2019 Posted April 10, 2019 It was a pretty good friend of my fishing partner and Im not going to name any names but yes, That is exactly who supplied the release boat and for the longer trips towards aunts there were trailored that way and the pontoon was put in the water closer to there. And I 100% percent believe him but im not trying to make anyone else believe my story. Not looking to argue with anyone around so just wanted to state the facts that I believed to be true is all.
