ollie Posted May 28, 2019 Posted May 28, 2019 I went down to Bernice to see my buddy on Sunday night and I must say, that has to be one of the worst floods I have ever seen on Grand Lake. I know it has been up this high before, but I personally have never witnessed it. Twin Bridges and Bernice State Parks were so under water and the bridge at Bernice had water pushing onto the road! Debris was getting onto the bridge as well. Not sure if any ramps are open. If more rains happen tonight and tomorrow I have no idea what level that will put the lake at. Quillback Posted May 28, 2019 Posted May 28, 2019 That is something. I would think it has hurt some businesses around the lake too.
MOPanfisher Posted May 28, 2019 Posted May 28, 2019 Definitely hurts businesses. I talked with a business owner on Pomme today, business down 50% from last year over Memorial Day.
tjm Posted May 29, 2019 Posted May 29, 2019 Pool elevation is 754.35 feet on Tuesday 28May19 Time: 22:00 hours. Top of flood pool is 755', pool is 93.16% full. Might be the first time this full since July '07. Reservoir release is 100093 cubic feet per second on Tuesday 28May19 Time: 22:00 hours. 10.55 ft ABOVE normal Ground is still saturated here with the wet weather springs still flowing strong so any rain fall is likely to be all run off. I would guess it's the same through out the drainage area. Quillback and Daryk Campbell Sr 2
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted May 29, 2019 Root Admin Posted May 29, 2019 Back in 1981, we looked at the old Red Eleven Resort to buy. It had been flooded numerous times and had a mold problem. But it also had a rich history of hosting big bass tournaments. We opted not to buy. Two years later we purchased a resort - also in a flood plain. We've had minor flooding 5 times. Maybe we should look at a mountain top retreat! tho1mas 1
