Old dog 417 Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 Water level was 884.5 down slightly from it's crest of 885.3 a few days earlier. Ruark ramp was usable but I had to wade a bit as all my vehicle wheels were in the water! A slightly uncomfortable feeling when you consider the flooded pit toilet nearby! 😨 A courtesy dock is in place but, be advised, it is positioned a fair amount above water level. Pics taken at Ruark Ramp except 4th and 5th pics, they're of the nearby Hwy H bridge and the North Mutton Creek Ramp. Conditions at Twin Bridges area.... WT: 78 Clarity: Stained, visibility 24" Nearby creeks were stained more and trashy. Few floaters observed, none large. Fished jig and crawler 20-25'....let's just say the drum bite was on and no walleye were harmed on this trip. Tight lines, od lmt out, 5bites, terryj1024 and 2 others 3 2
MrGiggles Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 I gave it a shot last night out of Crabtree. Ramp is totally submerged with very little slope, thankfully my trailer is pretty low, but I still had to get my feet wet. A darn shame, I know. Worked a jig and crawler for a little while as well, with no walleyes to show for it. Went to trolling afterward, caught a decent crappie right away. Then went over to a submerged island with some trees/brush on it. Trolled the proximity and ended with 2 more crappie, two walleyes (one keeper), and a LMB. If you could get a bait down in those trees without getting hung up, I think a guy could do pretty well. They were loaded with fish. I was short on time and didn't want to deviate from what was working. Hoping to go again tonight or tomorrow. Old dog 417, GRANDPA TATER, liphunter and 2 others 4 1 -Austin
Old dog 417 Posted June 7, 2019 Author Posted June 7, 2019 MrGiggles, Thanks for the update..good info. Good luck tonight and/or tomorrow...at least the weather forecast for the next couple of days has improved. Looks like we will be contending with the high water for quite awhile. od
bologna Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 How you pay the ramp fee if the box is out in the water 😁

3DHUSKER Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 Do you have to get the annual pass near the dam at the core office? Asking because I have never had one.

Many of the various campground offices sell and renew them. The main office sells them. You can call and have one mailed as well. If you fish a lot, it pays for itself pretty quickly. I use the ramp for free 11 months out of the year, since I try to go a couple times per week. -Austin
olfishead Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 I wouldn't think you would need to pay to launch a boat if you can't actually make it to the ramp! Or the courtesy dock...... or the restrooms ....... Like buying a jug of milk without the milk!

MrGiggles Posted June 9, 2019 Posted June 9, 2019 Went again tonight. Lots of boats out this time. Worked a jig and crawler again. 20" eye and a channel cat. Only brought a few crawlers with me. In the last photo of my graph you can see how I work the jig Just sort of hop it on the bottom, pulling it up a few inches. I have also had luck casting a short distance and hopping it back to the boat. Went to trolling after, had 3 crappie and a drum. Big sucker. Seems like the fish are pretty scattered. I apologize for spreading the pics over several posts. It's the only way to work with the size limit. GRANDPA TATER, Old dog 417 and dan hufferd 3 -Austin
