slothman Posted June 17, 2019 Posted June 17, 2019 Is anyone else having trouble catching the bass after dark? For me it seems to completely shut down at night. I fished all night in a club tournament on Saturday and caught them pretty decently until dark and after sunrise the next morning despite the storming rain, but the bite was virtually non-existent all night long.
fishinwrench Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 I haven't been out after dark but from what I've heard lately you're not alone. The catfish guys are even doing much better during mid-day than they are late evenings and after dark.

Some times you have to fish extremely shallow for lmb at night, but like anything fish will have times they get tough, slow down a very light weight plastic worm will catch when it’s like that... a rattle bead, a good dose of fish scent....or a bait that just pisses them off like a buzz bait...you can bend a buzz bait to run off the the right or left, let it ping pong off objects like a critter desperate to climb out of the water, big bass will bust that like nothing else some times... MONKEYS? what monkeys?
fshndoug Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 I always had good luck fishing the small coves or cuts along the bank with a 3/8 oz black spinnerbait,5 feet of water or less.
slothman Posted June 18, 2019 Author Posted June 18, 2019 Hopefully they will start biting at night better soon. I tried a bit of everything this past weekend. It seemed like sunlight was the factor that made them bite more than anything.
conorsixtakc Posted June 19, 2019 Posted June 19, 2019 should get better once the rain slows down and days get consistently hotter.
fishinwrench Posted June 20, 2019 Posted June 20, 2019 I'm not that big on night fishing but I always do at least one all nighter every year during the July full moon period. A black/blue 10" Power worm and a buzzbait have been the only 2 rods on the deck the last 3 years. Always a good time. mixermarkb, slothman and MOsmallies 3
Old plug Posted June 20, 2019 Posted June 20, 2019 My night vision is not to awful good anymore. I confine most of my fishing to the times between 6pm and pink up. We caught a lot of shorts( 13+ to 14+) a few dinks and one 4 lbs. in the past few days just fishing those short evening hours. Given my druthers I am a low light fisherman. I miss the night stuff a little but I have had had many many chasing the shade trips as good as night trips. mixermarkb and slothman 2
96 CHAMP Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 Nothing better than spending the night out night fishing, peace and quiet and good fish, problem is changing my time pattern over from working hours, need about 3-4 days to adjust, getting older isn't for sissy's. LOL
