I went to the lake after the thunderstorms this morning. On the lake at 10, clouds cleared at 11, off the lake at 2. Water temp 84 nd the wind grew as the day proceeded. By the time I came off it was thinking about white caps.

Early I caught two small largemouth on a Ned under a small pod of baitfish in 20 feet of water in a small creek cove. I fished that pod with other baits (jig, vertical spoon, Keitech) but no joy.

After that I hung a lure out the back and pretended to troll while I learned the lake near the dam. I found three submerged finger points that jut out from a boring shoreline. Between them I found good schools of baitfish. I will save that location for an early morning visit soon. I also found an underwater hump that rises to within 18 feet of the surace and sits right on the edge of the 60 channel down by the dam. I feel sure that at some time of the year that hump will hold fish.

More soon  as I learn.

Based on what I saw today, and on the fact the lake holds hybrids, I just ordered two Whiz Jigs from Bo. They are what Tom Mann wanted to make when he made the Little George. I will try them through schools of baitfish.

I love to fish a spook for hybrids on humps at Truman.

Does that lake have any walleye?

Truman?  Seldom hear of any, but they should be there since allegedly they were native to the Osage river before it was impounded.

I look forward to WTD fishing for hybrids. The internet sources say some walleye exist. I will find out how many that means. My guess is some sauger, but not that many.

It may be like Pomme de Terre.  There are some good walleye there but bass crappie and Muskie get all of the attention.
