tjm Posted August 23, 2019 Posted August 23, 2019 Ought to buy those Greene cops some radios. Low speed chase and road block. If one cop car driving a hundred miles an hour can't catch a fleeing suspect how does having 3,4, or 16 more cop cars chasing one behind the other make things better?

fishinwrench Posted August 23, 2019 Posted August 23, 2019 The whole "Blue Line" thing is lost on me, I have 3 cop friends and an inlaw that's a deputy, but still I can't help but roll my eyes when somebody goes off on a tangent about how their job is so dangerous and how they put their life on the line EVERYDAY. That's such BS. They have all the latest greatest weapons and toys, have the best training available, have immediate access to data on everyone, can have immediate backup if they need it, AND they have the authority to just shoot you if you don't do what they say. Plus they have the choice to back off and save their own posterior if they lack the confidence to proceed. How is THAT any more dangerous than being a truck driver, a marine mechanic, or a clerk at a convenience store ? If a cop gets killed on the JOB it's because he/she made a mistake. If I make a mistake on my job I can be killed just as quickly. The ones that I know personally don't get extra respect from me because they are cops, they get respect and friend status because they are good dudes. I'd love them just the same if they were shoe salesmen. And I do give them a hard time for turning a blind eye toward the ones they know or work with that do things against their oath. They ALL do that, and that's why there are bad cops out there. If they ALL honored their oath then a bad cop wouldn't last 2 weeks on ANY department. But I understand if you don't help cover asses then you soon find yourself unemployed. The system is broke and unfixable. slothman, tjm, Bushbeater and 1 other 3 1
Terrierman Posted August 23, 2019 Posted August 23, 2019 Water patrol on Mark Twain lake actually wrote me a ticket for improper spacing on the letters on my boat - after getting checked for everything else and all OK. I thought that was a little over the top, and it has colored my view of the water patrol ever since. This occurred in the late '80's so you guys that don't think I can remember anything are wrong! fishinwrench 1

That right there IS "the thin blue line" and no good cop ever covered up for a bad cop, if they do then they have become a bad cop.

Yeah he should have just told you to FIX IT ASAP and let it slide since everything else SAFETY WISE was good. But there are incintives to write as many citations as possible.....and that's what was probably going on there.
