N9BOW Posted August 20, 2019 Posted August 20, 2019 Look at this beauty! I saw this when cleaning up around the new place. I thought it was a Kissing Bug/ Assassin Bug and think I have it confirmed as such. He/she is going the way of the cellar spiders. Coming down in Sept and plan to have the place sprayed.
Quillback Posted August 20, 2019 Posted August 20, 2019 Never seen one of those before. Looks like a punk style Preying Mantis with the pink coloration and the spikey back.

This was a little over a month ago when I came down to the new place and did some cleanup around the place.
fishinwrench Posted August 20, 2019 Posted August 20, 2019 I got bit on the lip by one of those the night before my first day of school as a sophomore. Had to go to school with a lip swollen up like a golf ball. Supposedly it is a kiss of death that will hit you later in life.....but so far I'm still here.

I hear its there feces that causes the organ damage. Did you get treatment? Yes, Assassin Bugs Do Bite Importantly, these bugs bite. Assassin bugs like hanging out near their prey— mammals (including humans) with vertebrae—from which they can suck blood. Word on the street is that they like to bite repeatedly near your eyes and mouth (hence the kissing bug moniker), which will cause bite marks, redness and swelling to appear. … and Spread Disease Their feces can also spread the parasite that causes Chagas disease, a disorder that does damage to major organs and can be fatal if left untreated.

Did you get treatment Went to the doctor the next day just to see what it was but the swelling had gone down about 50% by then and they didn't even give me an antibiotic shot. My parents were both in the health care field and they looked it up and determined that unless you lived in the close proximity of cattle, hogs, or some other form of livestock, and there was no fever or signs of infection then there was no need (or use) to undergo treatment. After about 4 days the swelling was all gone. N9BOW 1
