Sonny's Dip Bait is now called Triple S Catfish Dip Bait. Used some at Truman last month and we caught a few messes of blue cat when they weren't biting on anything else. Best prepared bait I have ever used,

Don May

I caught you a delicious bass.

Sonny's always worked but best I could tell it was a mixture of rancid peanut butter and dog poop.

When I was a kid fishing for cats at Spanish Lake some older women showed me her secret bait, raw hamburger and Limburger Cheese, rancid meat and cheese that smells like 💩. Best bait I ever used. If sonny’s Dip or triple S smells anything like  my old bait it’s a winner.

I learned that same recipe, but add wheaties.  Old man in Carondelet park.  Kind of hard to get past the lindberger cheese smell.  I wish I knew about rubber gloves then.

When I was a kid we used shad sides that came in a jar.  After a few trios my mom brought home some rubber gloves from the hospital where she worked.  Of course we also used things like chicken guts fresh from butchering chickens.  They were best just before they got too soft to use.  Honestly I don't miss catfishing that much when thinking about it.  Fresh cut bait was never a bother for me and also worked.

Shad is great for blues, used to net them in Grand, then slow troll one off a bottom walker.  Haven't done it in 10 years or so, but it really worked, especially this time of year.

Sonny's and fresh chicken/turkey livers are all I ever messed with for channel cat. If I can't get fresh shad, I don't even bother going after blue cast.

Fresh chicken livers always make me want to break out the fry daddy flour and cajun seasoning.  Not for catfish, just for the livers, mmmmm.

I like some good livers.

I like to drift minners for cats.
