Plus I need alot more practice....my dry fly skills are not something I'm very proud of. My 24 y/o daughter was doing a better job at it than I was....and I ain't exactly comfortable with THAT! Fish em as straight down stream as you can. Gavin 1

I'm good when I can do that 😉 But all the easy ones had already been picked on too much before we got a shot at them. A good number of the better fish were cruising edges of the weed beds in frog water, and it took a soft cast exactly 22 3/4" in front of them to get a bite. I've been hucking big streamers/clousers, plopping poppers, and flipping weighted nymph rigs too long, and I couldn't get calmed down quickly enough. Plus the leaders I make are not that good for little drys..... I'm working on that. 😊

jdmidwest Posted November 15, 2019 Posted November 15, 2019 Deer season is late this year, so is Thanksgiving. C&R is always the second weekend after Oct 31 and ends 2 weeks before the March 1 opening. Duck Middle zone is normally the first weekend in Nov, but it fell on the second one this year, deer is the third. Turkey season in the spring is always the last 2 full weeks of April and 1 in May. You need a calender to follow all of this crap. ness 1 "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson

Hunting seasons, especially duck and deer with all their zones and stuff, will make you nuts. But you won't get shot by a duck hunter very often. Deer hunters scare me a little though. John

I've been shot more than once by dove hunters

It was a political "fund Raiser" for a senator. Brush hogged sunflower fields near the Missouri River. We used to pay $50 each for the day. Included, breakfast, booze, ladies to clean and grill birds and more doves in one spot than you could believe. No mater how many times they would tell guys not to shoot below eye level the excitement got the better of them. I'd do it again in a heartbeat. laker67 1

Fifty bucks for breakfast, lots of doves and getting shot a couple times. Let me think about that one Did they have you standing in a circle? John

Most fun wing shooting ever.
