Mitch f Posted November 25, 2019 Posted November 25, 2019 This is a topic that quite frankly scares the heck out of me. I’ve seen folks use a drone in the ocean to spot schools of feeding fish. I’ve seen folks use drones to fly Their bait out and practically drop it in a fish’s head. But this technology is hardly well regulated and I’m seeing lately some potentially hazard and or lethal applications. This is something that needs to be addressed fairly quickly. oneshot Posted November 25, 2019 Posted November 25, 2019 Might not be legal in Missouri they use to use remote control Boats to fish with and they put a stop to it. Plus it cost $300 for training and Licensing to fly one. oneshot

What kind of drone are you talking about? This is a shared DJI and all flying it had to be trained and needed License before flying it. You need a Federal FAA License before flying one. Mainly used by us for Search and Rescue. What really makes this one cool is Infrared. oneshot

I have several buddies that have them. You just have to register it. Heck even the kid next door has one.
oneshot Posted November 25, 2019 Posted November 25, 2019 Well I was told I needed License. I didn’t pay for it so I didn’t care. Not my Drone. Ok if you are using it for Hobby or Recreational use you don’t need License. To me that is crazy. oneshot
fishinwrench Posted November 25, 2019 Posted November 25, 2019 Oh they'll gladly sell you a license for just about anything. I'm surprised that we all aren't required to have a license to check our mail and burn trash. They just haven't thought of it yet. Daryk Campbell Sr 1

They finally did after splitting cost three ways. But I guess because it is used by the Government we need a License which to me is crazy because if I wanted to buy one and use it just to play around with I wouldn’t need a License. Kind of like my wife needs License to use Lights and Siren. She says she don’t want to fool with it because she can only go 5MPH over speed limit but if she goes up in rank she won’t have a choice. oneshot
Flysmallie Posted November 25, 2019 Posted November 25, 2019 Over a certain weight they have to be registered with the FAA. Costs $5 This will include most of the better consumer models. If you use it commercially you have to have a license. That requires an exam but not sure on the cost. And there are rules that must be followed.
