Meanmouth Smallie debate

What do you guys think? Smallmouth or Meanmouth? Saw this posted on LOZ Facebook page and was caught a few years ago. I said meanmouth because of horizontal line and scales but have been blasted for it.

I kind of see what you’re talking about Alex. I do see the spotted bass markings in there. But that would darn near be a state record meanmouth.

So hard to tell sometimes.  It does seem to have a faint lateral line.  Nice fish whatever it is.

I would never have thought anything but smallmouth.  But then again I don't catch many what I might consider meanies, or maybe I do and just admire and toss them back?

it looks like a really big brown fish to me not a meanie.

Looks like a smallie to me as well. Slight dip in the back from the spiny to the soft dorsal fin, not your typical humped back I would expect to see.
