oneshot Posted December 26, 2019 Posted December 26, 2019 Why does ASPCA always show Dogs on their commercials? I see plenty Cows with not even a Wind Break during cold weather. oneshot
oneshot Posted December 26, 2019 Author Posted December 26, 2019 We use to have Mule Deer in our yard. I use to raise Dogs to sell and give them shelter, food and water. They was live stock raised for money. Yes I had Dogs for pets some were trained for hunting. I always told my kids not to make pets out of animals I was going to butcher. They never listened. There was a Guy on the News Doctored an Eagle back from Lead Poisoning. In reality it came down to telling Hunters and Fishermen not to use Lead. oneshot
MOPanfisher Posted December 27, 2019 Posted December 27, 2019 I named every hog and steer we had earmarked to butcher. Never bothered me, I knew them white package came back in a week or so and I liked pork chops and steaks. Dogs are used in their advertising because they generate more of an "awwwww" response than a steer standing around.

Cows don't get people to open their pocket book. They don't live in the house, most kids don't play with them, and dogs certainly hardly ever show up on the dinner plate in the USA. It's all about their target audience and who is going to give $$$.
jdmidwest Posted December 27, 2019 Posted December 27, 2019 Read an article the other day about horses being shot in Kentucky. I thought about farmers loosing alot of money since horses are a staple animal to breed in KY and have value. Then I saw an article about it on the BBC news. They mentioned the ASPCA getting involved, someone was hunting the animals. That story had the real truth. Feral horses released by irresponsible owners that could not afford to properly take care of the animals. They had been released into the wild onto public land to fend for themselves. Probably had become a nuisance and someone decided to do the humane thing and put them down. The real criminal was the one that released them. Everybody seems to have a dog or 3 in the house anymore. Growing up, all animals were outside unless we were saving a young one. ASPCA preys on that and uses that for donations. Livestock is well suited to fend for itself in the weather as long as it has not been conditioned by human dwellings. Cows have sense enough to use a wind break and lay down in a storm. Don't worry Oneshot, they are able to survive. As long as the farmer brings them hay to eat. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. fishinwrench Posted December 27, 2019 Posted December 27, 2019 I have substantial distrust in these outfits that operate on donations. Especially Children's Miracle Network and St.Judes. I just have a feeling that only a very small amount of money actually goes where it is supposed to. I'm sure they have their butt covered legally but too many people are getting a cut before the remainder goes where it is allegedly intended. I'm sure the ASPCA is no different. I'll send a 500.00 check directly to St.Judes hospital before I will let DG or Pizza Hut tack 1.00 onto my total by using their name at the checkout line. That crap hacks me off. I know for certain that DG wouldn't train their help to ask everyone if they'd like to donate at checkout....if they weren't getting a cut of it. That's just NASTY ! Daryk Campbell Sr 1

There is a website out there that ranks non-profits on how much of a dollar actually goes to something besides overhead and marketing. As I recall some of the really popular ones only gave something like 15-20% to their actual cause.
