When those guys are out there fly-fishing the flats for bonefish, and a 6' shark homes in on the bonefish they just hooked....... What's the protocol for that?

I mean they are 1/2 mile from dry land for Christ sake.

Sharks are nothing compared to a salt water croc. They are really aggressive.

If a boat that comes in for service has been in saltwater I can tell right away.  A simple thing such as refreshing a water pump or changing gear lube can turn into a 3 day long ordeal.

The mechanics that live and work on the coast seem real casual about it....but it would absolutely drive me to do hard drugs.   Nothing is more frustrating when you're trying to work on something than a bunch of seized fasteners.

I think the same thing of guys that work on cars in the rust belt. If they worked here they would clean up on flat rate. Make us look like a bunch of pansies.

I only wade where the Apex predator is ME.

wimp. Besides you can walk down the beach and catch just about anything you want without getting your feet wet.

It looks like a vast amount of nothingness but that is far from the truth. Pretty much the same as fishing a flat around here.

There is something about saltwater that calls to me.  I love the fishing, the locations, and the lifestyle.  We just got back from Grand isle yesterday.  Did a quick weekend trip, the fish didnt co-operate but we had a great time.

everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.

If you are surf fishing you learn to read where the waves are breaking. Typical on the gulf coast there are 3 bars running parallel  to the shower and you can tell when the waves roll over them. Waves bring water in and it has to get back out somehow. So you watch where the waves do not break until they hit the beach. This is a drain that lets the water move back out. It also pulls bait back out and the fish hang around for the bait to be pulled out. Depending where your at there are all kinds of things to catch whiting, redfish, black drum, pompano, jack crevalle, sharks. You would be amazed how big of sharks are caught every year along the Texas gulf coast. Run bait out 200-300 yds offshore and if you are lucky you can figure out how to get and 8 to 10 foot shark beached and released. Shark a thon happens every year on the Padre Island National seashore. Huge shark fishing tournament.

You can find on the Internet many places to fish from shore. Got a friend now down on the Gulf and enjoys Winters down there and he goes fishing often.

Me I have 3 Surf Rods, got one I use for Spoonbill.
