What I have found on raised beds, the deeper the soil the better. Just guessing from the pics, 1x6 cedar? no.. I went cheap as we are moving to Co some time Next Year...I THINK.. Not sure now.. Those are 2x10 spruce (Untreated).. Not gonna last very long.
jdmidwest Posted March 25, 2020 Posted March 25, 2020 Deep enough then, fill them to over flowing. Rain will settle them. The deeper the dirt, the better for the roots. N9BOW 1 "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson

I also plan on tilling that grass.. and will set them in their final space over the weekend.. I will have to ratchet strap 2 of the boxes and screw down the end once they untwist... With Social Distancing and All I placed an online order and they picked the lumber (did pretty good I might add) I had two out of the lot that look like egg noodles. not bad for 20 - 2x10x10 and 10 2x10x8

oneshot 1 Posted March 25, 2020 Posted March 25, 2020 I had Raised Beds and Compost Bins. The Guy that bought the place had no understanding. Said he had to take a foot of dirt off to get past what I had done. He complained to the City about my Chickens. They gave me two weeks to get the problem taken care of. Killed all but a few, cleaned up everything. City told him there was nothing they could do. He took Bobcat and moved the Survey Marker and Fence. I wasn't happy. oneshot
N9BOW Posted March 28, 2020 Author Posted March 28, 2020 Got rained out. Today!! still managed to get the tiller purring like a kitten. Ratchet strapped the bad boards on the raised beds. Gonna let them soak in today rain and take their new set before I screw them down and fill the rest. back is sore. 6 yards of mulch/soil and compost in those 5 beds. The rest is still in the driveway! also scored some pint jars (8 doz) and rings for 4.00 a doz wily, tho1mas and BilletHead 3
