...and grain alcohol, you make Limoncello!

Just the outer layer of the peel -- no pith:

Now add the alcohol and then it's off to bed for a few weeks to extract the lemon oil and color:

We enjoyed Limoncello in Italy last summer and decided to make some. It's a very common homemade spirit there. Over there the lemons were huge -- sometimes as big as softballs. Hoping we can get close with this try at it. 

Any ideas what to do with the remaining Everclear? Any frat boys out there? :D

It goes with anything.  Makes good hand sanitizer too.

We made punch bowls out of Everclear and Hawaii Punch.  Oly used to have party ball kegs.  We would drink the beer and then fill them up with the punch concoction.  Makes you invincible.....

I remember a trash can of Hawaiian Punch and Everclear stirred with a baseball bat. Then I remember waking up with Magic Marker (remember those?) all over me. I learned my lesson then. 

Wait for step 2 to see if this is diluted and/or sweetened or both 🤪

I like that idea better with Captain Morgan rum. Was a great treat in HS and college.

Been about three weeks. Strained out the lemon peels and ran it through a coffee filter. Recipes are all over the place. Added a 3/1 mixture of sugar and water and cut it to 33% alcohol. Too strong and needed more sweet to improve the flavor. Cut it to about 15% with 50/50 sugar and water. Perfect!
