My Sister just told me a guy she had went to school with and we both knew had passed. She said he was only 58???? Sis you do realize Dad was only 59 when he passed? You’re right.

There was 3 girls in our family 2 Sisters have passed. My Sister said this scares her.

She is religious and knows when we leave here we will be with the Lord. I really see her point but it is hard to realize there is better.

If you (and her) truly believe it, then there should be no fear or concern.  You should actually be anxious to go.

Yelp that is what I have been thinking. Funny I like her keeping track of stuff that I don’t.

She says did you wish so and so Happy Birthday? What did you get your wife for your anniversary? LOL

I am not in a big hurry, here I can still sin a little and get forgiven.  May have to tow the line on the other side.....

I’m one of those guys you’ve heard about that had 2 very real experiences when I cried out for help. I’m a believer and no one can tell me different. But I understand some are skeptical.

I want my children to be with me as long as I can on this earth. Which is why I feel that without kids, it’s hard for a person to understand and relate to some things.

I'm jealous bro, I'd love to believe it but I just don't.   I can only believe things that are believable.

I have had and seen positive things happen that honestly made me feel like someone/something was looking out for me or someone else, protecting us in some magical way.    I have also seen incomprehensibly awful things happen for no reason whatsoever.  And I have no doubt that you have also.

As far as all of the other faith based religions in the world are concerned, you too are an atheist. All self proclaimed believers are atheist when it comes to all of the other religions.    I'm just one step further along, as I don't believe in any of them.

Dandy control tactic, it has been somewhat effective (that's debatable actually) for many many years....But is it real and true?   I'm unaware of any evidence to support or even suggest it.  When I look around, the evidence that I see leans heavily to the contrary.   And I'm not comfortable teaching my children something that I'm not certain is true.

I was raised to believe the words of the Bible by sophisticated functioning alcoholics.  I respected them because they cared and provided well for me.... but I grew up and actually read the Bible, and then I realized that they actually never did.   I knew my parents very well, and if either one of them had ever actually read the stupid thing, they would have NEVER said to us kids that they believed it....and that we should too.   Not a chance.

The passing down of "beliefs", with the caveat of "you must believe it or else".... is exactly what is going to screw up EVERYTHING.    That's what I BELIEVE. ✌️ ....due to the pandemic.

We all want to be here, healthy, as long as we can. Some have faith in a god to help them live as they should. Some do not and live according to their own code. To me, it does matter to what god someone turns. Nor does it matter to me what moral code they might follow. For myself, my goal is to have those who remain after me say, He was a good man and we will miss him.

On the topic of moral code, think on this:

Do no harm, be honest, aid those who need, and oppose those who would harm others.

Just my two cents.

Absolutely!

And in regards to the Honesty part, when asked if you have read and studied the Bible......answer honestly.

Listening to another person preach snippets from it is not READING it.

Read it, and pay attention to what you're reading.

I did that years ago, @fishinwrench.  Read 4 different versions.  I did it because being raised by a strict Catholic I realized when I got older that none of them read it.  They relied more on what the church or the pope told them to do than what was actually in the Bible.   For years I lived like what I learned about during the enlightenment period because I had trouble following the church. That the innate goodness of man was what set us apart from animals and kept society running.  My wife and a few events in my life changed me and I now believe, but I still do not like churches....  Due to the pandemic.
