Upper Meramec river.

Wadable?  Or is there a recommended kayak rental company that would take you back to your car at the end of a float?

Did I read some old posts here about just a handful of browns left in the Meramec?  Or was that all in jest?

I seen a few browns and smallies come from the Cardiac Hill access.  I've seen goggle eye down from there, I imagine they are mixed in also.  It is wadeable, I wouldn't recommend going alone, it was very swift when I went.  The hill is easy going down, but kicks your butt going back up.  Especially if you're like me, and out of shape.  I would imagine the info you read was referring to the past vs now.

If you go to the Meramec trout park and wade downstream out of the park you can wade quite a ways upstream or downstream. Downstream you might get any of the 3. Upstream you can get smallmouth and google eye. in winter you can get a brown upstream as well.

You can wade for about  2.5 miles below Meramec Springs when the water is low (300 cfs at Steelville), or you could park free at Cardiac or Suicide and walk/wade up to the park and back. Long steep hike at Catdiac, short steep climb at Suicide. Try both. Easier to wade up then down. About an hour and a half one way. Used to drive from STL to fish it after work and drive home 3-4 times a week at times when the fishing was good. I was allot younger, and I don’t hate those fish as much anymore.

Steep, steep climb at suicide. I destroyed a cheap pair of wading boots climbing up suicide hill 😒.

Haven’t been up or down Suicide Hill in years. Have crawled up & down many times. There is a trail past cable to the east. You don’t have to go off the bluff face. Might have to pick your entry when you get to the bottom. The river shifts after every flood.
