Now I am confused BIG TIME. Lots of questions????????????????????????????????????????? ???????????
Ghost with lowrance equipment, Ultrex with Hummingbird and Garman trolling with garmin equipment?
My buddy is looking at a Garmin 93 something, with down imaging and with livescope and wants the Ultrex trolling motor, What is the advantages versus disadvantages. What does he need to make it all work as it should. I am not electronics savey at all and the first to admit it and neither is he really.
We bass fish and he is more of a bank beater and I am more structure fisherman.
If you want to just put up on the bow a new trolling motor and 1 electronics on a budget of 5 to 6 grand or less what would you do. I plan on buying the one for the console, upgrade at least one better, with side imaging, what ever route he goes up front.
I am just trying to help him out with what works best together.

Well I think it would be counter intuitive to run all Garmin graphs, and not use the Garmin trolling motor, losing out on the benefits of doing so. Especially with a Ultrex, the Force is very comparable.

Of course I have not even seen a Force, I don't know if they are all they were cracked up to be.

Depends on what he is planning on doing with it i guess.  I have friends with trollers linked to their graphs and they dont use any of the features, so it isnt serving much purpose.  I had a motorguide linked to my lowrance on my last boat, It was useless for what i used it for.  If i was up North trolling cranks for walleye i would be all about linking them up to run contour lines, but in the Ozarks i found it worthless because i would always be dodging trees and stuff

It's my observation that 90% of guys with the latest/greatest sonar crap installed on their rigs either have no clue at all how to use it to their benefit.....or they are keeping it such a secret that they are throwing entry fee money away, just so nobody knows how many fish they can catch.

The remaining 10% are actually doing pretty good jug fishing for Blues, and snagging for spoonbill.

Due to an injury I had to go to a self deploying trolling motor.  The MK Ulterra was my only option.  I had Lowrance electronics.  Over time I sold my Lowrance units and replaced them with Humminbirds.   There are lots of functions that are available now and I use many of them on every trip.  I have the option of even controlling the Ulterra with my birds.

I wouldn’t want to have to go back to units that would not work together.

I have the same networked setup, use it and like it a lot.  I primarily fish Lake of the Ocean and self deploy/stow is da bomb.  I primarily chase walleye and with electronic boat control I can actually fish rather than fight the boat all day.
