jdmidwest Posted January 5, 2021 Posted January 5, 2021 When you start sucking gravel, shut down. No need to do any more damage and drive yourself further. Its never fun, but I have never had to wait on another boat to get us out. Most days, they don't come along where we go. I have found that with the tunnel I dont start sucking gravel until the boat is already beached. snagged in outlet 3 1 everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.
jdmidwest Posted January 7, 2021 Posted January 7, 2021 Was wondering about the tunnel hulls. Do they really run that shallow or just jack the motor up higher in the water column? How do they handle? The motor can sit higher (in relation to the bottom of the hull)..... but the hull sits lower in the water. More weight, and less hull surface area on the water, so obviously it sinks down more. They handle fine when up on plane, but a bit clumsy at slower speeds.

I have pods on the back so it actually sits higher in the water. 12 hours ago, jdmidwest said: Was wondering about the tunnel hulls. Second and most importantly, it funnels water to the jet. Coupled with the pods the water stays "compressed" further out of the tunnel. Will it run shallower than other jet boats, that I don't know, but it will run plenty shallow for me. snagged in outlet 3 1 everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.

I'll do it later today. I've had gravel tick along the bottom but not get sucked into the jet. I've gone partially submerged logs where the water made a little "hump" over it without touching.
gotmuddy Posted January 7, 2021 Author Posted January 7, 2021 I think most boats will run 2-3" for a short run, but hardly any will do that for a long shoal. Its really hard to tell how deep the water is when your running up. Maybe when it warms up I will do some testing. For now I can just say I am very happy with the setup Daryk Campbell Sr and snagged in outlet 3 2 everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.

Stick a paddle in the water to see what 4" looks like on that river and that day. I think you talked about this before @fishinwrench. It's a lot easier to tell at noon than it is at day break... Trust me😁
