Mud Line

down Sons creek past Greaser creek.  Put in a little after 11 am,  marked fish in 22-24 fow just like usual,  dropped double jig set,  moved it, strolled it,  lifted and dropped it,  even yelled at it a coupla times,  Notta.  Wasted about 90 minutes trying to coax a bite out of them.  Swung down to greaser, much less mud on south bank just past the first corp brush pile.  22 fow,  short walleye.  Then a 12 inch crappie, coupla shorties, another 12 ,3 more shorties,  an 11 incher then another short eye.  Gave the 3 crappie to the neighbors.  Had to turn the gain down quite a bit for all the clutter that came into the lake.  Me thinks crappie get lockjaw when mudded up.  Look for cleaner water.

On the Little Sac, water was clear from Cedar ridge on down. 

Spooned up probably 10 crappie, and 2 whites. Mostly short fish, but a few keepers. 40-65 feet, near schools of shad. Crappie seemed to be near the top of the school, whites were just under.

Were they on any kind of structure or just associated with schools of bait fish.  I hope to spoon for walleye one day next week.

I was fishing right in the schools. 

Both of the bigger schools were on main lake points that protrude onto river channel, that may be more than a coincidence. I pretty much just followed the channel and looked for the schools with side imaging.

I was using a fle-fly spoon, one that you can bend and get a real slow flutter out of. I have some from Binks as well, but the fle-fly is my go to.

I'm still 0-2 on spooning for walleyes.

I plan to launch at Hartley and work my way towards Mutton if the water is clear, if not I can go down lake towards Edge Island.  I use a homemade jiggling spoon similar to a Hopkins Shorty 75.

Still liking it and learning, using mostly downscope which gives me 24 ft width in 20 fow,  the fore and aft view is about 8 ft so sometimes a little difficult to keep the jigs in that rectangular cone.  Good clarity on the jigs even as they fall,  its absolutely  nuts to watch the fish come over to investigate it,  sometimes they're in the mood and sometimes not.  On the breaks you can actually see the slope on your screen.  I need to master the fwd look,  believe if trolling w/ a roadrunner or crankbait that is weighted in front and directing the livescope behind the boat you should be able to see the fish approaching your lure.  If they stall out just move it towards them to encourage the strike.  Should know be summer.  I have a 73 cv with it, wanted the 93sv but bass pro ran out and wouldn't give a raincheck,  but don't use sideview and the 73 seems adequate at the depths I frequent.  Will be at the lake tomorrow and Tuesday, if I can find  clearer water,  and will probably try Friday, I look for 45 degrees and winds 12 or below.

Don't know who you were addressing with that question. First trip for mine. I got the perspective mount with it. One problem, when you mount it on the trolling motor  using the starboard mount the decal that show your tramsducer position on the downside of the transducer so you canb't see it. I put the trolling motor down and the livescope was looking backwards under the boat. I thought I had mounted it wrong and didin't havar the allen wrench to change it so I used it as is. Had to turn the TM 180 to see out in front and then back to use it. That limited my use. found out when I got home that the transducer wasn't lined up for forward looking. i can see how and independent pole for the LS would be a plus especially for crappie.
