Why The Ozark?

Lived here in the Ozark 42 years. Lived in Colorado, California, Arkansas and Louisiana.

Been all over but always consider this home.

What got me to thinking I have live cam on the beach in Florida. Nice Palm Trees 80+ degrees. Oh it looks nice but I would never be happy.

Well you know what they say......

"You can take the boy out of Missouri, but you can never take the Missouri out of the boy". 

I spent 14 years trying to be happy elsewhere but it never lasted more than a few months.  Georgia was nice. If I had to choose another state that would be it.

I really like the ozarks but these winters are getting old.  The plan in retirement is to head south for a month or so every winter.

Yeah, Jan.-Feb. sucks for sure.  March is a gamble too, really.  

I have access to a trailer in the town of Okeechobee, the guy practically begs me to go down and stay in it, but you know how it is....kid in school, projects to do here when it's not 10°below, blah blah blah.   And then there's that godawful drive.   🙄

With the exception of the 3 years I spent overseas while serving this great nation, I have spent 71 years and 10 months in camden county missouri. Came here in 49.

I’ve been to every state with the exception of Maine.  I really never saw anyplace else that I thought about being able to call home, however, Hawaii wouldn’t be a bad place to visit right now.

Crazy the only other states I liked when I was younger was North Carolina and Louisiana.

Yep that’s why I have to wait to do that in retirement.   But I will.

Going south isn’t always a good thing.  We went several times when we had our 5th wheeler.  We found snow one year in Florida.  Our water supply would freeze up in Mississippi.  South Texas was the warmest we ever found.  The Florida Keys is the prettiest.

We’re going to the keys next February.
