fishinwrench Posted February 21, 2021 Posted February 21, 2021 I can hear them way up there in the darkness, headed in a North-Northeast direction.  Not quacking, or honking, but more of a Raspy...... "peep-peep......peep-peep...... peep-peep".  Teals? Woody's?  Coots? Something else entirely? What are they?  🤔
Gavin Posted February 21, 2021 Posted February 21, 2021 Snow & Ross Geese most likely in your area. Ton of specks on the move yesterday.
jdmidwest Posted February 21, 2021 Posted February 21, 2021 They seem confused around here. Heading up the river 2 weeks ago, then reversed course and were going back south all last week. fishinwrench Posted February 21, 2021 Author Posted February 21, 2021 The tone of their "peeping" makes me think they were a smaller bird.Â

tjm Posted February 21, 2021 Posted February 21, 2021 The calls you want to search are Night Flight Calls or NFC, most birds seem to migrate at night and scientist record and count them.
Johnsfolly Posted February 21, 2021 Posted February 21, 2021 We have been seeing flocks of swans and large flocks of snow geese lately. Likely that they are headed back north.
