If it doesn’t work Saturday I’ll swing by 😈 bring you out of opti retirement for one last hurrah

Ha!   Noooo!    You can just take that SOB right to the Mercury dealer of your choice. 😂  They'll figure it out eventually.

I only tackle Optimax running problems for people whom I don't know or don't like......so I can stick it in their @$$ with a fat bill, and not feel guilty about it.   👹

The only truly good Optimax tech that I knew and felt confident sending people to, sadly passed away last year.    😥

I'm sure there are a few others out there, somewhere.....but I've yet to meet them.

Well the problem has resurfaced again. It seams the new plug we’re a bandaid for what’s actually going on . Sunday morning the boat was missing bad would hardly get on plane . After the first run of the morning everything was fine . It drives me crazy that this thing is so cold natured . I talked to the mechanic who thought he figured it out … he’s now saying the injectors May need cleaned . @fishinwrenchback in the day when that compressor blew up , did you clean the rails and injectors when you slapped that new one on ? Thinking maybe some metal is plugging one of my injectors but I’m not sure .

You'd have known if I did, ($$$$$) that's a 5 hour project. 😅

Debris from the compressor, other than a bit of condensation, cannot collect in the fuel rails.  Bits from a failing "tracker valve diaphragm" can though.

If you suspect that is the source of your issue, have your guy check fuel and air pressure at the rails.....and if it checks within specs....have them clean the injectors, and then REMOVE (do not replace) the injector screens.   You don't need them.  Anything small enough to pass through the injectors can just be chewed up and spit out without any harmful or noticable effects.  Then replace the tracker valve diaphragm.

Yes I know the factory doesn't recommend that.....but let's get real here 🙄

Do we miss carbureted or simple EFI outboards yet?    I guess THANKS for doing your part to be EPA compliant. 🤣

I have a 1998 Merc xr6 that runs like a cat with turpentine on its butt. It is a carbureted motor.

Has that extra 1/2 gallon of fuel that you burn in a days time ever caused you more financial stress than the repair bill on an Optimax could?

Hell, just one compressor replacement would cover the difference of 15 years worth of fuel usage.    So what if a little oil collects on the surface behind you.  That all ends up along the bank and helps keep the mosquito population in check. 👍😊

Almost as good as Marlboro Reds.

Eliminates erectile disfunction too.  Ya gotta breathe that exhaust in early in the morning though.

2-stroke oil smells better than that rotten egg exhaust from regulated 4-strokes, by far. Chicks dig it !
