Just looked up the Rock for 2021 and it looks like 563 sanctioned tournaments with close to 11,000 boats so far. I'm sure there will be more

Lake O.  515 tournaments. Did not count boats, but the Rock blew both Rayburn and Lake O. away. Those were 2020 year stats for Sam Rayburn however but no way they are going to add an additional 200 derbys in 21.

Mercy.

Well, I won't see those numbers on my new lake.  I may take up belly boat fishing ponds again.

I have a pond prowler and have for decades.  If it’s public near STL metro it gets beat to death.   Hard to go to a lake to fish when you know it’s not going to be a stellar day.  Sure the odd nice fish or good days does happen but it’s very rare.   Typically it’s going to be a bunch small bass.  Or nothing.

I am sure everyone knows Rayburn is 103,000 acre lake. More room for more people

Doug they mentioned several times and it has been brought up here. I have never fished it but the MLF Crew kept saying Rayburn fishes small. What did they mean by this, and have you fished it?

Bobby Lane said at least 2 times that he was covered up with other fishermen. When they would show the pros there was most often other boats in view and they were not watching, they were fishing. I know Mark Davis was simply surrounded

Thanks, ill listen off the line.

I watched one of those Texas Team Trail deals (don't know if I have the name right) where they fished Rayburn.  Something like 500 boats in the tourney.  They showed a drone view of the launch, looked to be a hundred boats idling in the cove where they launched, it was still twilight and it was just a sea of lights.  Rigs backed up on the entrance road waiting to launch as far as you could see.  I just don't see how that can be any fun, but to each his own.

They showed some fishing too, and there were boats everywhere out on the lake.

They may not have as many derby's  as we do but I think they have more boats in each event.

I think they mentioned that Friday there was a 400 boat deal also going on.

I know on Fork this last year KVD was totally beside himself and he is just about as low key as it gets to distractions. He wasn't having a melt down but was about 1 more boat away from having one.

I used to go to Fork a lot but it simply got to crowded and the guys I went with quit going for that reason.

Lots of traffic here but TR fishes big most of the time.

Mr. Babler ,I have indeed fished Rayburn twice. It is a huge body of water.. If you were sitting in Caney Creek and drove across the lake to the northeast to the back of Veach Basin it would be around 17 miles. You can get out in the middle down by the dam and head northwest and follow a compass bearing and never have to deviate to be able to drive in a straight line for 50 miles. This lake is not a riverine type lake like ours are. Lots of big open water. The lake does seem to fish small to me. With all that being said it is a fabulous lake to fish. I saw tons of fish bedding with some rather large ones. .

Saw a post on another site that claimed the Texas Bass Champs tourney this weekend on Fork had 1,700 boats registered.  Two man teams are for the most part required.  Supposedly a 15 and change weighed in for the overall big bass lead.
