Their easy to catch, small one will put up heck of a fight and not the best eating. oneshot A big part of sport-fishing has to do with where you're doing it. Carp are notorious for living in ugly parts of the country. I can only take so much of prowling around in mucky nasty stagnant backwaters before I get depressed and start drinking heavily, and looking forward to taking a shower. I got all excited about fly fishing for carp, scouted out several good places, tied up flys and made special leaders, ect. I had some success and lasted about a week or so at it.....then I got sick of it. I couldn't care less if I never do it again. Terrierman 1

Well yes some Carp live in some places where other fish don’t but most the time they are in the same water. Can catch Carp right by you pretty regular. I do know they put up more fight than any other fish. I know people I’ve went with get them on a Carp they just can’t believe how they fight. oneshot

After battling a 10-12 pounder I'm not exactly in the mood to immediately do it again. Same with Gar.

I want to have a few beers and watch somebody else reel for a while after any of those. And when it comes to saltwater fish, none of those are really big, just what I've had the joy to deal with. fishinwrench 1

Outside his 5 County limit. Agree that those are way better fighters than 10 to 12 lb carp. For rhe AJ and Tuna even pound for pound are better fighters than carp.
oneshot Posted May 10, 2021 Posted May 10, 2021 Thinking Fresh Water Carp are always close. Stripers are good fighters but Carp are easier to catch. oneshot
