If you were maybe interested in a middle of the road air rifle with a middle of the road price for pest at home. Nothing special or fancy. Just don't Woody to fall off the stock the first time I use it. lol What one would be you choice? Mike

   I bypassed the break barrel air rifle and went straight to the PCP type. Just because I had a good deal fall into my lap. Lots of guys start with the break barrel and are very satisfied. I understand it takes some getting used to but that shooting platform will not break the bank buying it. I will refer that stuff too the ones on here who have dealt with them including @fishinwrench.

I really wanted to love break barrel rifles, and I actually could if someone could build a good scope that could take the beating.    There's just something about heading out into the woods knowing that the very next shot could easily be the one that scrambles the cross-hairs......just turns me against them.    I've had so much scope trouble that I simply can't depend on break barrel rifles anymore.   And no I don't buy cheap/cheesy scopes....they are all good ones.   Even though the manufacturer keeps standing behind them and replacing them, I still know that I'm always one shot away from catastrophe.

PCP's or pumpers are the way to go.

As much as I'd like to congratulate the young man.....that just AIN'T shooting.  

Repetitive, known distance, ping-ping-ping....with an instrument (ok "rifle") that is form fitted to his body while wearing a certain shirt with a certain collar.    Ho Humm 🥱

No he is not hunting leaning against a tree of shooting off a bench but he is the best at what he is doing Mr. Negative Nelly

   Out shoot him and then say Ho Humm. I will bow and say you are the best. 

   When you shot competitive archery did you shoot sights or did you shoot bare bow?  Did you shoot long bow or recurve? did you make your own bow out of a Hedge log? Did you kill any deer with that hedge stick? Did you do it with a river cane shoot, hazelnut shoot or grey dogwood shoot out of a road ditch? Did you do it with a knapped stone point you made? Point installed with pine pitch and sinew?  Turkey feathers tied on with sinew?  Did seven deer that way:) .

  Start bowing to me and go out shoot that young man.

Oh no, no, no.......I wasn't going THERE !  

I'm sure he's wicked good with that highly tuned, form fitted, INSTRUMENT.  

I suck at off-hand shooting (we've discussed that before).    But then again, if I had a perfectly fitted INSTRUMENT with a tuned trigger, and was only shooting repetitively at 12 yards, and I could lay off the coffee and diet coke for a few days......I might be able to beat YOU 😁
