I took the boat up to the Dam and had a good morning. I caught 3 on a sulphur dry fly early and then switched to a sulphur colored crackleback and that was the hot fly this morning. I caught a dozen nice ones on it including this fat one in the picture. I probably missed as many as I caught on the crackleback by setting the hook too early. It is hard to wait for them to turn before setting it when you see them come up and take it from behind. Then you end up pulling it right back out of their mouth. Still fun to watch them take it even if you miss them.

Sent you a PM regarding the sulphur crackleback.

I'll try to post a picture of it tomorrow morning if my camera will capture the detail.

It is really not a true crackleback as it does not have a peacock herl on the back.

Here is a picture of the fly. I use micro fine dry fly dubbing material for the body and then palmer the hackle from front to back. To fish it, cast across stream and let it dead drift as a dry fly until it starts to swing and then yank it under and strip it back. Also pause it a few times during the retrieve and let it come back to the surface. This will sometimes trigger a strike from a trout following the fly. I tie it in size 16 and 18 depending on water flows.

I also tie it in olive which works well during the caddis hatch.

Is that a dun colored hackle and what shade of dubbing is that if I may ask. Nice fish by the way.

Yes dun colored hackle and sulphur orange body. Sorry for the fuzzy picture.
