Ryan Miloshewski Posted August 29, 2021 Posted August 29, 2021 Well it's about that time of year. Finally found some shells for my 20 gauge and Steve on here hooked me up with 29 boxes of 12 gauge steel for $300 so I am sitting good now. We can use this as a thread for the year. Ready to get out Wednesday and dust off the rust on the ol' 20 ga and shoot 10 doves on three boxes of steel. Anybody seeing any teal yet? I have heard of a few in North MO/Southern Iowa but haven't seen any this far down yet. Looks like it could be a tough season--which, it's kind of been going downhill for a long time, but the drought in the PPR was awful this fall. I feel like they'll rebound, but this year may be sparse. Just what we needed to hear. https://deltawaterfowl.org/state-duck-surveys-offer-mixed-news-for-waterfowl-hunters/ Either way, I'm looking forward to pics like these, duck dogs, and smelly waders. dpitt, snagged in outlet 3, Terrierman and 1 other 4 “To those devoid of imagination a blank place on the map is a useless waste; to others, the most valuable part.”--Aldo Leopold
netboy Posted August 29, 2021 Posted August 29, 2021 I had a group of about a dozen Blue Wings buzz me this morning while wading on the White near Cotter. Other than that, just the usual pet Canadian geese crapping in everyone's yard. Ryan Miloshewski 1
Gavin Posted August 29, 2021 Posted August 29, 2021 Haven’t seen many, doves are sparse too. Hunter91 and snagged in outlet 3 2

Gavin Posted August 30, 2021 Posted August 30, 2021 There’s 60 acres of cut Sunflowers by the Weldon Boat ramp. No doves.

Gavin Posted August 30, 2021 Posted August 30, 2021 Buddy mowed his sunflowers in Troy last week. He says he has no birds. Nothing but cut weeds at MTC and Busch...no birds there either. Looks like tweety birds will be the only thing on the grill on Wednesday. I'm gonna sleep in, unless birds arrive. Haven't heard squat about CB...Lots of flowers up there this year. If they aren't holding birds, I don't know what will.
Ryan Miloshewski Posted August 30, 2021 Author Posted August 30, 2021 I am seeing a bunch of doves at my bird feeder. Might be a stealth mode opening morning. Some of the best shooting I've ever had was a construction site overgrown with crab grass. Those birds were just stuffed with it. And they just loved taking dust bath's there too. Cops showed up before we finished our limit😆 Gavin 1
