Pictures would be nice😁

Now you have me hijacking this thread 🤔. We didn't catch a thing 😒. Photos of the 3 to 5 foot waves as we scoped out where we might fish. One guy caught a red drum before we got there at high tide. Sue and Livie fish sand fleas and blood worms and had some bites, but no fish.

To each his own my friend 😉. You're deal now is trout and it may stay that way. I've been there. Drove well over 2000 miles to catch a trout in all of the MO designated trout streams, included all blue, red, and white ribbon sections as well as 10 urban lakes, and found a streambred population of rainbows that I didn't even know about before. Was a great journey overall.

I have done worse for new species. Just this weekend drove over 400 miles to try for a new species of kingfish only to fish for about an hour in really bad conditions and then left in a driving rain.

Keep up your videos and as I mentioned I look forward to the next one.

After everyone commented that shiners count as catches too, and the comments about some of the catches possibly being bleeding shiners, I decided to look up what a bleeding shiner was compared to other shiners. I stumbled across a website microfishing and thought it was interesting. I guess it would be just as enjoyable catching the tiny overlooked fish in the water. Also, I looked at the images in the video of the shiners I caught and they did look like they had a dark area around the gills...so I guess they are bleeding shiners. I'll take a picture of one of them next time. I've caught a creek chub or some chub that looks like a shiner from the same spot at blue springs creek as well. At least three fish species there that I've come across so far.

On your video at the 2:31 mark is the one I believe is a bleeding shiner.   The lip/gill/fins are what stood out.

Glad that creek still has some trout in it, thanks for the report.  Haven't stopped to punish those fish in  a decade or more but glad it still looks the same. It was always a minnow factory, with the better fish keying on them. Good luck.

If you have photos and need help, I know a guy that can help with ID.

Here are a bunch of photos of bleeding shiners. My daughter likes to call them lipstick fish. They don't have the red lips all year round, mostly just in the spring and summer months.

Question for those that have fished this creek......What's the biggest trout that you've caught at Blue Springs Creek? What time of year and what fly/lure? And where was it roughly in the creek? closer to the meramec river or above the bridge closer to the salvation army camp?

About 13"   on a #16 light Cahill nymph.

Cold winter day about 1/8 mile below the bridge.  Late 1980's, 4" of fresh snow on the ground.

Only fish caught that day among 3 of us.

Haven't visited it since.

A 12-13 inch male in January (2014) with a 1/32 white marabou jig. Caught it upstream from where you were fishing in the video. Also the last time that I fished that creek. Had other spots (Crane Creek that Feb) to fish.

Fishing with snow on the ground sounds pretty fun. 13" is huge for this creek it seems. I got lucky and got a 13" at this creek on a lure, but not on a fly rod. I think I'm going to try there again this December, maybe I can check off fishing during a snow storm off the old bucket list.
