I'm looking for some place to take a winter trout fishing trip with lodging on the water. 3-4+ guys and would like to be able to walk outside the cabin and wade fish. Boat rentals would be awesome, but not a deal breaker if there is plenty of wade fishing close to base. I have been to the Norfolk tailwaters and White River area in Arkansas that fits our preferences, but I would prefer a smaller less crowded stream and somewhere new. Definitely not a trout park. And would prefer MO waters, I'm not familiar with MO trout waters west of the Eleven Point. Thanks in advance, Mark

I'm drawing a blank for anything that is actually on the water in MO that's not in a trout park.  There's a metric ton of places on the White River.  Rim Shoals Resort and Gaston's both come to mind to access wade fishing.  Both can set you up with a boat.  Cody's recommendation for Riley's Station is solid too.

Those are three that I have stayed at and had a really good time.

I had a bad case of brainlock.  ROLF is a great place to stay.

Usually camp @ Sunburst, but Sunburst's Lodge @ Trout Island would be the spot for a cabin trip, followed by ROLF. Pop your NFoW cherry by running the falls in a canoe,  catching a trout, and filling your waders after slipping off a slimy rock. You can complete all three tasks in less than 5 minutes. Good luck.

Everything he says is accurate. 100%

I freaking love the lodge at trout island. A little much for 3-4 guys but such a great place.

We did that the only time that we canoed this river. My wife and I had not canoed together for almost two decades. It was October and my daughter was also in the boat. We did well even with white knuckles and high anxiety. Of course our daughter wanted us to do it again 🙄

Just over the border in Ark, stream stocked weekly.  Local guide.  Good wading in winter and float trips.  Decent cabins and camper cabins.  Not fancy but good place to kick back.
