My 2000 merc EFI, get a intermittent beep when running hard or in rough water usually after a hard wave.  Best I can tell it is the low oil sensor, which I know can be a pain on these ole mercs.  Was hoping @fishinwrench or someone would have a suggestion other than pull system and mix oil/gas?  Seems just a bit more floatation or?????? might Correct it, tank on motor is full. Just a anoying beep when i hit a bit rough. Thanks in advance.

I don’t claim to be a mechanic, however, I had a similar experience twice in the 14 years that I had an Optimax.  Both times it was something in the upper oil tank.  A new tank fixed the issue.

Without doing a complete O/I system diagnosis it's hard to say.    But it is highly likely that the motion sensor is detecting periods of NO MOVEMENT from the oil pump drive gear.

Even if that is not the case it is HIGH TIME to delete that O/I system and start mixing your fuel.

That O/I system is poorly designed, and if it isn't beginning to fail now then I promise you it won't be long until it does.    Just get rid of it.  👍

Now that I've said that.....it could possibly be water in the fuel filter, or a bad oil level sensor causing the intermittent beep.  But if it only happens during hard acceleration......Motion sensor (doing its job) is suspect.

Thanks, not in acceleration pops up fine,  its running just hitting wakes and waves, thought about just securing that senser in the tank, but as you have stated the O/I systems are known to fail.  Will look back at post I think you have posted how to disable them.  The water in the fuel was my first suspect but new filter and new fuel did not correct the issue.  My guess (and only a guess)is the oil level sensor.  If I have glass water seems no issue.

Take it down to Branson West and have one of Kelly’s guys find out what’s wrong.

Buy the block off kit, there is a reason Merc offers it....Wrench talked me over the phone how to do it.  3 years in and im running great....mixing oil is so easy, people make a big deal out of it for no reason

You know it's bad when the original manufacturer makes a kit to disable it...

.....and then CHARGES you for it.  😂

People say  "Wrench, why do you always suspect that everyone is out to screw people over all the time?".

Gee, I dunno, guess I missed the line I was supposed to stand in to get my BS blinders installed.  🤔

I was not aware of Mercury having that problem.  I’ve never had to do that except to the Johnrudes that I had.
