Winter time speckled trout trip Feb 16-21

Anyone interested in going?  February is prime time big speck fishing and east matagorda bay is one of the best places on the gulf to do it.  Planning on wade fishing EMB or drifting if deep water. Leaving(tentatively) wednesday night the 16th and driving back monday the 21.  Staying at a cabin on the creek(which also has great fishing off the dock) and probably doing some surf fishing for big drum.  I know @N9BOW @JestersHK have mentioned fishing, anyone else?  I am going down there this weekend with the family and will give a report when I get back

I'm checking my schedule, I'll see what we got going on.   If anything I can likely swing the weekend with a day on the front or back. I'll hollar at ya when I know.

One of these days I would like to get down there and fish, but not this year.

What kind of gear and tackle?  I can do about any weight spinning rod and up to 8 wt fly.

I am fine with that as well.  I used to do trips like that alot, I would call them turn and burn trips. take off friday, leave thursday evening, and drive home sunday.

Beefy bass fishing tackle.  My inshore saltwater gear is fairly lightweight, I run a mix of braid/leaders and 12lb test flouro.

Thats just about what we use in the surf.  Most of the time I'll use a short wire leader.
