Yeah, if you want "performance enhancement" then run without the grates.....I dare ya😁

You'll definitely notice the throttle response improvement....if that's what's important to ya.

You won't have to worry about leaves either.  🙂

I was looking at the stomp grates thinking they would be nothing but a slow down kit, more restriction on water flow.

Grates off running in mossy areas would be better.

Mine are factory aluminum I think.  They are pretty hard though.

I have seen the ads for the cone shaped nuts, may help with the vortex some.  But it would be hard to tell.  Probably just hype.

The only thing I could see is less cavitation.  I did it because I was bored and I have a lathe and tooling 🤣

If you ever need to replace the liner or impeller, I would definitely recommend The Jet Doctor in Ellington, Mo.

I called them on Tuesday and wasn't for sure exactly what size I needed. I gave them the yr and make of the jet. I had everything shipped and to my door by Friday!!  Excited to see how much of a difference the new parts make. My old liner was really worn and the impeller was shimmed down all the way. Below, are pics of the new vs old equipment.

Next time I highly suggest getting a stainless impeller.

So far with the tunnel I have had no rocks get in my grates so it might be possible for me to run with none, but I am too chicken.

Last fall, in front of a sweeper, my good fishing buddy waited too long to start up.  When he did, he dumped the throttle and the back end dropped in deep and sucked up a snoot full of rock.  Into the sweeper dead stick, limb loaded up and whacked me in the head.  About lost my eye, lost a lens in prescription glasses, and had a drive back from near Nashville in front of me.  Not a fun end to a eventful day.

Earlier that trip, I thought he had ripped a hole under the boat when he hit a nice solid flat rock the size of a VW just under the water at 30 mph.  I was in back of a stick steer boat and ended up sprawled out in the middle.

May need to get him one of those tunnel hulls.

Duck.  It was up a foot and flowing over a boulder we usually went around.

that sounded like a rough trip.  The downside to the tunnel is you give up some speed and the boat does not float as high in the water, but I am pretty sure my pods make up for that.

When we're drifting back my buddy says why do you get in such a hurry to get going?  He just doesn't understand the jet thing no matter how many times I try to explain it.

Some people shouldn’t own boats.

absolutely.  When it comes to obstructions in the water when drifting I am hyper vigilant.  Everyone should be.

First trip out in jet boat 20 some years ago, ran up river from Riverton on 11 Pt to fish.  On our way back, there used to be a chute to left side of Hall's Bay you could run and we entered it full bore.  He could not make the turn and into a stump we went and I was sent into the middle that time too.  Its the same Panfish 16 I bought from him in 2020.  He took it to Fred in Doniphan and he ironed out the big dent in the front.

That limb back in October about took an eye.  First physical damage I have been inflicted upon on any of our trips.  Made him feel a little bad about it.  Cheek hurt for 2 weeks, think it may have fractured it some.  Bloodshot the eye.
